Cudlitz / Cooper was also gay

and was not actively seeking treatment for that condition. Not a minor faux pas.Thy had him in Chickie's environment and he never once made a pass at her.

I didn't actually notice that, but you're right. Also, she didn't make a pass at him, so she must have been gay too. So if they were both gay, how come they weren't attracted to each other? Quite a plothole.

why would Cooper seek treatment for "his condition"? it's not like he had an STD or TehAids or something. He was simply gay. His ex-wife knew, and one reason they divorced. we later learned Dewey knew, and Tang said there were "stories" going around about him, so others were aware of it. I think Chickie also knew? (good excuse to rewatch! LOL)

and so what if he didn't make a pass at Chickie? Not every man needs to hit on every woman/man/whateveryoudesirelegally every second of the day. they were work colleagues and had a bit of a friendship beyond that. If that's how you think all men should act, you need to start hanging with a better class of men.

oh, and Chickie did admit to at least one occasion with Stacy Haiduk's "badge bunny" character, but she also had a son.

Lastly, Michael Cudlitz is NOT gay. He is married to a woman and has a couple kids with her. Just because an actor plays gay on screen does NOT make them gay in real life. or a soldier, or a zombie hunter, or a drunk car salesman-slash-poet.
Sure, Sean Hayes is gay, but Eric McCormack is not. Jesse Tyler Ferguson married his husband Justin, but Eric Stonestreet has had girlfriends and only a few of "those stories" because Hollywood. Hell, I just found out last week Sir Derek Jacobi was gay (AND has a bf/husband by the name of Richard) when his "Vicious" co-star, openly out actor Sir Ian McKellan (aka Gandalf aka Magneto) was promoting their being "Hosts of Honor" for NYC Pride and ...London/Manchester? Pride Parades.

The whole Cooper being gay thing was like a child had written it trying to be shocking and it just wasn't. This is 2016, people are gay. Wow.

reply

I think it was more that no one would expect him to be gay and that is the way it is sometimes. I am gay myself and have been shocked to find out someone is. It can be who we least expect.

Respectfully disagree--Cooper as gay was complex and interesting. It was handled so deftly, nothing like a "very special episode" approach. He had such a tragic background with his father and girlfriend (and her murder). His emotions were so repressed, to the point that he couldn't even go on a weekend trip with a boyfriend, that it perfectly summed up everything about him. He was under pressure, trying to control it all, keep it contained, stay on top of it, and he could do it to a point until his substance abuse slipped away from him. I certainly haven't seen every show out there, but the character was interesting and unique to me.
