People who constantly post their lives on Facebook, etc...

So I feel bad for the family and everything that happened and I hope Chris Watts rots and suffers for as long as he lives and after... but...

I will never understand why people feel the need to post so much of their lives on social media. Are people really that starved for attention? I can't help but find it annoying and I don't mean that in a hurtful way.

Anyone else out there feel the same way after watching this documentary?

i guess it comes down to what people like, may be her friends and relatives do the same because they all like doing it so they do it among each other, same as religion, sports, etc..

I think Shanann was motivated by multiple factors.

She was heavily involved in several different multi level marketing programs. She was currently deep into Thrive (the vitamin patches), but had also tried her hand at Amway, ItWorks!, LulaRoe, Younique, Poonique, Thirty One, Origami Owl, and probably others, too.

MLMs encourage reps to use social media to recruit new members, and to”build their personal brand.” Shanann’s personal brand was all those vids of her, the kids, Chris, outings, trips, etc. It seems like they lived their lives more on social media than living just to live. It really looks like she got addicted to posting it all online, and couldn’t stop. So much of it looked staged for SM. Pretty soon SM became her life.

It seems like Shanann needed to feel that her life was good enough to share online (this made her feel validated), so even if aspects of her life fell short, she artificially staged it to make it seem better than it was.

Very sad.

Many relationship experts have stated that this is the clue to how you know a couple is not as happy as they seem. Interesting points you made and I agree with them.

What on earth is "Poonique"??? I'm afraid to google it, lol 😮🤨😂

It was a little over done on her part, surprise your gonna be a daddy is kind of intimate thing and I don't know...some people felt it was a bit off settling.

I think the guy just bottled everything inside and was deeply insecure and he snapped in the worst way possible.

reply

She was very controlling and he snapped. If it was the other way around the woman could call it spousal abuse and get a shorter sentence. I never really cared much for her, she didn't have any likable qualities and was all about image and control, but the most upsetting part is of course the killing of the children. Many people can imagine the path to spousal murder but killing your young children like that is just unthinkable.

What a weird post. So she is murdered by her husband and that's okay?

Here you have 3 hours of a serial killer trying to fool the police. No edits. No commercials.

reply

Not really okay just something you can wrap your head around. This has happened a million times before someone with a controlling spouse snapping one day. Just saying I have a more difficult time understanding why he killed the kids as well.

reply

He didn’t just snap one day. It was planned. He wanted a new life with his gf and she wasn’t really interested in his kids. She wanted him to have a kid with her. She wanted to give him his first son.

When you watch and read other info about the case, you learn there’s a lot more to the story than what is shown in this documentary. There’s more info found on chris’s cell phone, and the gf’s cell phone, and the family computer

I was led down that trail of thought too. Then I realized that the format this doc chose made that judgement appear so glaringly. An over abundance of video footage and text messages all from her phone makes her appear narcissistic and materialistic. This concludes me to believe that though she was a victim, her behavior can't be ruled out as a factor in the disillusion of the marriage. Though this in no way justifies her murder. It leads me to believe it is what may have caused her selection of husbands.
Make no mistake, I still feel the guy was a creep.

Exactly how I feel!

reply

I understand what you are saying. She didn't deserve what happened to her and her children but that much intrusion and exposure online could get irritating.

reply

There are alot of friends I had to get rid of.They are blinded by it.

reply

I agree. I’m a mother myself and felt she was obsessed with it. Especially when he was dressed as Santa and she was mad he left her phone on the car in garage. I actually told my husband “Couldn’t she turn the phone off herself and focus on the kids?” Yet she didn’t deserve to be murdered of course

reply

That annoyed the fuck out of me whilst watching this as well. She really thought she had an interesting life, didn't she!? So riveting watching her be a mother. You know...like every other mother in America. I kept saying, "Is anyone even watching her live stream that shit!? Who cares!?" In the end, it was thanks to her incessant footage that Netflix was able to piece together an entire documentary. She'd probably love knowing she has her own documentary!!!
