What they did to Ghostbusters was also done to Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and it again will fail. Can we finally be done with this silly approach to movie making? Women doing the same jokes men has already done is not empowering in any way. It's just sloppy seconds.

shareThe original DRS was fantastic. A classic comedy. This one does about half of the content exactly like the original (even a few of the same sets) but it is mostly lifeless and sloppily written. I got one or two laughs. The few good parts were cribbed straight from the original. Their version of Martin getting whacked on his ostensibly numb legs was the best part. So in the end, I don't consider this to be "absolute shit" but rather mostly sub-shit. Its a 4/10 movie at best and in the realm of comedies of late, that ain't bad. At least I laughed.
Hathaway does a pretty good job. Her German Doctor persona was amusing. I give her credit. I wasn't much of a Rebel fan before this and that remains unchanged.
tl:dr Skip this and watch Dirty Rotten Scoundrels again.
P.S. There is a funny bit at the beginning featuring the Jonah character (don't know actor's name) from VEEP so if you like him, I guess its worth a whirl.
