What is with the birds at the outhouse?

What is going on with the birds that hit the side of the outhouse, as if they had been thrown, while she was inside? We get a good look at the first one and see her bury it. Then the same thing happens a second time. Not totally sure if it was another bird but I think it was. It is raining after that particular scene so what she did or what happened after we are not shown. Anyone have any answers?

Dear SS1408:

There was a second bird, a black bird.

It was not shown if Mira buried that one also.

IMO, There was not any point to that in the script.
