With that said, the film was worth watching just for the first 30 minutes alone.

It appeared as though there were some homoerotic feelings there. I agree with the OP that the first 30 minutes were okay but the film deteriorated badly quite quickly to the point where I spent the last 30 minutes just wanting this to end.

It may have looked that way to you because the evil spirit was "tempting" the young one to the dark side. So it is a form of seduction, but not the way you meant.
