Terrific, original ghost story

Clearly some people don't like this... but we loved it. It was a complete surprise. The trailer is misleading, as it makes it look kind of like typical B-movie silliness. Maybe that is what makes people dislike it, expecting something else. We rented it because my wife loves Justin Kirk and I like Mira Sorvino. It seemed worth a rental. But, wow, it is a very intelligent, creepy movie that had a lot to say. It definitely does a slow burn, which I guess turns some people off. As some have noted, there is not even any dialogue for about 20 minutes. But we thought that was terrific. It is a very cinematic movie. And ultimately very moving by the end. I guess it is not going to be for everyone, but we say give it a try and go with what the filmmakers seem to be trying to do. It's not every day you see something this different and original.

Gee, registering a generic name for an account just to post this glowing review in both the reviews and message board. Does anyone fall for this stuff anymore? Go home, you're not wanted here...

"You didn't like this movie? Go watch [insert completely opposite movie] instead"

reply

Seriously? How is your name any less generic than mine, Bearded Wonder? My name is Bradley Foreman, my wife and I loved the movie. If you didn't like it, no big deal. Why are you so angry someone liked this movie?

reply

My apologies are due to you. What you did is what people do when they're paid to hype up a movie. They register a new generic name w/a number at the end (LA Film Guy 45 for example), just to make a glowing review and board post which they've just copied & pasted. Then we never hear from them again.

I've seen it hundreds of times, so it seemed like your post was another in a long line of fake reviews. They especially do it on lesser known, lower budget horror movies with low audience scores, such as this.

Again, my mistake. It just fit the type to a T...

Much appreciated and no big deal. This movie sure seems to get passionate responses from both end of the spectrum. Having enjoyed it so much, I am surprised by how much some people also hate it!

This is the only film or TV show on imdb that you have posted about. Obviously, you have some kind of stake in this piece of crap.

reply

Hi. I've been on IMDB forever and don't even live in the US, but I really loved the movie, like many out there. It's old-fashioned, atmospheric, and would have been great as a b/w movie from the Forties ("The Ghost and Mrs Muir", anyone?). I showed it to many friends and they all were intrigued to some degree. And I don't even get paid to write this! ^_°

I loved it too! Retro horror!

What we have here is failure to communicate!

Oh, please.

"Obviously, you have some kind of stake in this piece of crap."

I have no stake in the film and I enjoyed it.

Maybe some people actually like this film?

reply

Y'all are funny. I loved the movie. I hardly ever post about movies, but I read and lurk around a lot.

If someone really likes a movie then they can post what they want. I don't understand the tendency in this place to tell everyone what to do and how they should post, etc.

Sheesh.

About the movie:

I was unexpectedly drawn in. Started it halfway through, had to hunt it down and record it on the DVR.

It's not the best movie I've EVER seen in my life, but I sure enjoyed it and it has re-watch value!

Looks like you were right the first time. The only posts he ever made were in this thread.

reply

Wow bearded wonder...funny how he says his name and that he and his wife love the movie and that changes your mind?...I'm sure your first assumption was correct...just listen to what other ppl have said...his only reviews are for this movie...which completely blows.

Why the fvck are we eating spaghetti!? Let's go stake the bastard-Jason Stackhouse

Thank you for your opinion, Sookie Stackhouse! Glad you could take some time away from your struggles with vampires to post your opinion about this film.

(Are people so un-aware?)

Horrible. Feels like an expensive film school student's project. Laughable.

reply

Though a larger budget, perhaps, would have generated a better film, I enjoyed the style/idea of the 'ghost story' it presented.

This is my siggy. It appears, automagically, when I post.

reply

No, this movie was pretty awful. And I usually love atmospheric ghost stories. This one didn't go anywhere.

I watched it because Mira is in it. And, its not bad for a ghost story, not bad at all.
