Groundhog Day, Goonies, 13 Going on 30, and most Lifetime and Hallmark movies! Probably a few other things, too. Yet I still watch them, almost in order to see all these borrowings :)

This isn't supposed to be an "Oscar" winning movie, just a cute little feel-good movie. I think most movies borrow a little from other movies. Very few are the ones who stand alone in subject matter. Borrowing from what succeeded and what people enjoyed is a part of movie-making....at least it seems so to me.

You could find 'borrowed' story-lines in ANY film, I guess. :-) All love stories basically run along the same tracks: Girl meets Boy, Boy meets Girl, and they marry in the end. :-)
And I don't care if its no Oscar winner or anything - these kind of movies do make me feel better and help one to live - if you know what I mean. That's what I value most in films and books.
I'd swap the usual sort of prize-winning pseudo-intellectual garbage for this film at a rate of 3:1 any time.
