Most of the cast seems to have a Scottish-Irish sound, but not exactly. I may be wrong... But someone please help me understand the part of UK this is located at and the accent.

shareIt depends on the actor. E.g. The girl is from Manchester, her mother is a Scot and her father from Yorkshire. As it was filmed in Liverpool you'll hear a lot of local accents, but there is no single dialect in the filmn and many of the main actors are not from around there.
shareSo maybe that explains why I could understand the mother, the fat neighbor and her pudgy daughter, but I didn't catch a word coming out of the injured soldier's mouth. Jodie & Kiernan were kind of hit and miss.
I kept messing with the volume but I seriously could not understand that soldier guy, and naturally he was the one that explained what was happening. I completely missed the explanation for the "monster" or whatever.

shareAlthough it was filmed in Liverpool there is no indication where it is actually set. The characters have a range of accents. Beth is Scottish, Kieran is from Yorkshire, the soldier is from Liverpool (the only one who is), Jodie is from Salford (near Manchester).
