it was rubbish :(

I checked this out cause it was filmed not far from where I live but that was prob best thing about it :( It was like predator if it was made on £30 an set in Brookside close, except for the guys from Peter Jacksons earlier movies did the special effects makeup, in the dark!! Afet watching an older movie other day calledPRIEST cause it was filmed also in Liverpool and I loved that, I should have called it quits an went home happy - I didnt enojy this and as someone already poined out, if all comms were cut in the area, whats with the girls phone going off at the end to alert the John Merrick to her presence? 1/10

"whats with the girls phone going off at the end to alert the John Merrick to her presence?"

Didn't pay much attention to all that useless plot crap, huh? Her dad had called her after dropping her off at Mom's and "gifted" her a ring tone, which she used as an alarm for Christmas Day (we see her set the alarm ON SCREEN). Since the movie takes place on Christmas Eve, it naturally follows that her alarm goes off at the worst possible time on... you guessed it, Christmas Day.
ALL of that is explained in the film, by the way.

I can understand your disappointment if all you saw was a monster barely on screen chasing around a bunch of random people. That movie would have sucked.

However, if you actually pay attention to the plot of the film, it's not half bad. A lot better than a 1/10 anyway.

It was rubbish. I was waiting for the 'action' to break free from the house, but like everyone said before, it never got further that a very bad static Brookside episode.

It's siege horror. Being trapped in a mundane setting is half of the point. Think Night of the Living Dead.

Considering the obviously low budget, I found it watchable and thought it created a claustrophic atmosphere quite well... However, it is untidy and many aspects could have been improved without spending any more money... The explanation about the "Savage" was garbled and really needed to be clearer... If the soldiers were going to kill all the residents anyway, why didn't they do it methodically when they were going door-to-door at the start..? They were wise to keep the "Savage" away from the camera for so long, as he really was poor... Even on a low budget, they should have been able to manage a much better mutant soldier type thing... And, it shares its biggest fault with the vast majority of horror films - I just did not care about anyone and wasn't particularly bothered about what happened to them... The acting was OK... Apart from the look of the "Savage", the special effects were mostly OK-ish... As is often the case, this was let down by the writing.

Uhh, this film is called Salvage, badgerking10 lol... You seem to think its called Savage. I was wondering why call it Salvage, but you seem to have missed the L in the middle there.

Anyway, it was pants. I agree with you mostly, the director did an ok job with what he had I suppose but it was indeed untidy and garbled, as you say. When we first saw the 'creature' I just laughted. It looked liked it had a runny nose lol... Then when he attacked the woman at the end it looked like a homeless drunk with a beard. Just a poor attempt at a horror film, regardless of the budget. If the budget was that low, why even bother in the first place? Or at least wait until some more financing comes in so that their vision could be realised better. Sorry, I know that sounds kind of harsh but to me its the truth. I suppose younger and less experienced viewers than my self might get a kick out of it but I did not, other than laughing at the papier-mache monster thingy.

"Or at this point would it be like throwing a hot dog down a hallway?"

They didn't kill everyone at the start because at that point only the Sharmas had seen the creature. They only started eliminating witnesses when the carnage started and everyone knew there was something other than a terrorist attack going on. They were prepared to kill innocent people to protect government secrets, but not gratuitously.

I thought it was a pretty good film. If you were expecting a Hollywood blockbuster then obviously this wasn't the film for you. If your tastes are a little more cosmopolitan then it was very watchable. And I actually did care about the characters.
