Well, I guess they thought they shouldn't be the ones to let her know. It was for Will to tell her all along. And then there were others (specifically Jim) who didn't want to get involved because they thought Will was delusional.

Hm, the way I see it, she was an actress in Hollywood, hadn't been home for the past two years, not that often before either I guess, and the others weren't really her friends, not like she had been with Will, they were school mates or brother-of-best-friend back then...and - I dunno - I'm not a fan of telling people that so-and-so likes them - you should have the guts to do that yourself.
Plus, while I believe Will truly cares for Emma, the idea of her and the memories help him cope, and once he is past that, he is more himself and not so dependent - if that makes sense...:-). That is a much better, sounder basis for a relationship imo.
