Willy is really annoying. This movie is really bad.

That's 90 minutes of my life I'll never get back!

I agree. I stopped watching after about 30 mins. They tried to make this a cute little movie, but it just didn't work for me. The stupid hat he was wearing was pointless, and irritating to watch.

I am so disappointed with this movie. They tried to touch on many different plot points but didn't go into detail in a lot of important stuff. It made me not care about the characters. Too cutesy when it would have worked better as drama w/ occasional comedy.

SPOILERS:

-Emma's fiance murdered the guy she cheated on him with. She takes it remarkably well and they only dedicate a few minutes to it.

-The WIlly/Jimbo brother relationship should have been explored deeper. As well as their early family life.

-Too many other things to count.

That being said, I did like Tom Sturridge. He has the potential to be an indie star.

"Alkaline. Clementine. Valentine. Columbine-the flower, not the high school massacre."

Agreed. I watched most of it in fastforward, and could not tolerate it!!! I stopped watching before finishing too. BAAAAAAD acting!!! Horrible plot!!!! Ridiculous and totally UNbelievable!!

reply

Well said, they seem to be going for cute never fall out of love with you type hipster movie. Yet it just comes across as scary.

reply

Co-signed. Really, really awful. Fast Forward was invented because of movies like this. Total waste of film. I couldn't even make fun of it it was so bad.

Don't try to cash in love, that check will always bounce.

reply

It really was, I don't understand how it got made. How many people read it and thought that it was good enough to be made? Such wasted potential, utterly ridiculous plot and unrealistic dialogue.

reply

i couldn't agree more...this movie was just plain bad. it jumped all over the place, went for the sympathy card way too often but had no real follow-through, and the characters had no real chemistry. i mean...it was just awkward to follow. willie was too idealistic and his romantic style just seemed implausible. emma was a bit of an ice princess. and what was with the murder plot, the dying parents, and horrible family relationships...was just a big mess from start to finish! gah! it had so much potential, but failed horribly!

reply

totally agree with you - awful movie! you should have got out of watching it faster, like after 30 minutes, lol, but perhaps you kept hoping it'd get better, I bet it never did (couldn't watch it anymore after like 30 minutes myself), the story seemed too poor, acting of the most actors unbearable.

Every time I see Rachel Bilson in something, I am more and more convinced she's no actor, it might seem at times that she is kind of taking on her character in a new and fresh way, but that's jusr an illusion, which unrevels after few minutes of watching her performance, she just can not act, and I don't understand why directors don't see it, it's way too obvious; but she wasn't the only one bad actor in this movie, most of them were - there was just no room in the movie for characters to get out of the cliches.

though montage in the beginning was promising...

reply

i don't think rachel bilson's acting was the problem. it was tom sturridge (or his character). nobody could have sympathy for his hipster/clown/stalker character. he was awful in every way imaginable. all of the scenes with the dad were completely awkward, especially the one with blythe danner when he makes her cry.

reply

i agree with all of this.

reply

"hipster/clown/stalker"

ACCURATE.

reply

especially the one with blythe danner when he makes her cry.

Yeah, what was that about?

reply

My mom and I tried watching this tonight... Got about 40 minutes in and then called it and read the plot on Wikipedia.

real love, it finds you somewhere with your back to it.

reply

I'm only halfway through the movie, but I have to agree. Guess we'll see how the rest goes... :/
