Just saw this and Under The Hood.

Both very good companion pieces to the movie.
Theres 3 commercials that air during UTH which are great. One is a Nostalgia by Veidt, the 2nd a seiko watch commerical and the 3rd a toilet product which was great...takes me back to the 80s bigtime.Interviews with Hollis,Sally,Bernard,Big Figure and Malcolm Long are fun to watch and it does seem like it was from the 80s.
TFTBF was way shorter,I think 20 minutes exactly. It'll be intresting to see this incorped.into the directers cut later in the year, hopefully pieces at a time like in the book and not all at once like this.

The Nostalgia ad still uses "Unforgettable," yes?

We will be cruel to the Germans, and through our cruelty, they will know who we are.

Bought the steel case dvd from Best Buy this morning. Loved the Under the Hood segment complete with fake 80s commercials. Tales of the Black Freighter felt incredibly short by comparison making me wonder why it was marketed as Tales of the Black Freighter featuring Hollis Mason's Under the Hood when it should have been the other way around. Under the Hood shows up more in the film than TOTBF. On top of that, as Tales isn't interspliced with the events of the film I can't help but think that those who aren't already familiar with the graphic novel will be scratching their heads wondering what the hell Tales has to do with the film. Because of this I'm somewhat uncertain how I feel about Tales. It looks stunning although not much like Gibbons' drawings. I have yet to watch the special features but the box lists a feature on the books within the books and the parallel's between Ozymandias' story and that of Tales. Either way I still can't wait for the rumored edition in which Tales is spliced INTO the film.

It's not the same Nostalgia commercial.

It's the one used as a sample for the commercial contest:

The original plan supposedly was for all commercials in Under the Hood to be Veidt products. I assume they were going to be the contest winners, but in the end they went with the contest sample and two real commercials re-dubbed. I don't think the winning commercials have been used in any form unless glimpses were shown on TVs/monitors in the film.
