The mom is the unsung hero

After watching the movie I think the person I was most impressed with was the mom. She had to deal with Marcs problems, but also with the fact her two other sons were gay and transgender. I don't think there is anything wrong with being gay or transgender, but then I'm a godless liberal. But for her, living in the state and town she lived in and coming from the era she was formed in, I thought she handled life with a strength and ease and grace that would probably be beyond me if I were in the same situation. Her accepting nonchalance about her childrens decisions and situations said love was love, and that's all. There would have been no family to repair if she wasn't around to hold it together in the first place.
It makes me wonder if Marcs condition was the impetus/ silver lining in their lives. I'm sure a lot of parents think their children being transgender or gay is the worst thing their child could become while this film shows it could be a lot worse. Maybe marc was a gift of perspective. Maybe it's me assigning purpose where there is none.
Anyway, and off topic a bit, a question asked of pure ignorance. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming the Christianity disapproves of the transgender like Marc said. Is this backed by any biblical scripture? Or is it a funny little loophole.

Well, thanks, and later

Love your comment. I totally agree. Re-watched this last night, and paid more attention to Carol this time. As a mother of three young kids who fight all the time, I was VERY impressed by her calmness and patience.
