Kim is a self-righteuos bitch

I just could not get over the scene where Mark was going through the pictures, and Kim stated pitching a fit.

Yes, I understand that her life before transition was a very hard time for her, but she seems to have absolutely no consideration that the person who she used to be was very important to Mark. Mark is not going to be able to make progress with his recovery after the accident if she doesn't let him explore that part of his past, which she was a huge part of.

Mark has a brother who he will never get to see again. it is almost like Kim killed Paul with her transition, and where this puts Paul out of his misery, there are still the others (Mark) who are left to mourn his metaphoric death.

I lost all sympathy for her when she lit into Marc about those family photographs. So what if those people tittered at them for a moment? She could easily have explained her situation to Oja before she and Marc went to Croatia or she could just have stayed at home. She wasn't the person they all wanted to meet, he was.

But apparently she was so caught up on her own story that she didn't stop to think that for the first time ever that he could remember, Marc was the center of positive attention. Of course he brought family pictures to Oja to show his family life and childhood. Kimberly herself says Marc retreated into the past after his accident, well, she--as Paul--was part of that past.

There Marc was with everyone kissing him and commenting favorably on his remarkable resemblance to Orson Welles and Kimberly just had to ruin it for him by objecting to his showing a few family photos which included her before she transitioned. He didn't single her out in those photos or even mention her that I saw. For once, Marc was reveling in just being Marc. And she spoiled that for him.

Could it be that the happy medium was, like she said, to have shown 190 photos instead of 200 and leave out the ones that made her uncomfortable? Marc had a right to be happy and the center of attention, but that doesn't automatically trump her right to feel at ease, or make it an acceptable situation for her to just sit down and take hurtful laughter from others. Note that it is not her responsibility to forewarn (or "easily explain") her gender identity to anyone -- as though she could have guessed that this specific situation would have occurred.

The quite interesting textual alternative.

I think the biggest bitch in film was her girlfriend Claire. The looks on her face say it all. I consider myself a part of the LGBT community, and let's be honest-Montana ain't NYC or SF.

I have to disagree. In this instance, as well as in most of the movie, Kim displayed patience, kindness, and empathy to Marc. One of Marc's constellation of problems was his poor social skills, and he probably didn't realize that Kim would be uncomfortable with him showing pictures of "Paul" to a group of people who they were meeting for the first time. For those who do believe Kim was out of line in taking Marc to task, I would note that she did it quietly and discreetly, explaining to Marc why it bothered her.
