Enough with Mila Kunis

I don't want her to go away forever or anything, I just can't stand that she's shoehorned into all this projects where her character is totally unbelievable cause let's face it, she's a pretty face and a crap actress. Wash her out of the movies and throw her into tv land forever.

She's not even "pretty" in this movie. What are you talking about? She's barely wearing makeup and is being presented as average looking.

reply

Kunis is just a really boring actress. She commands absolutely no attention in her scenes. A good example of an actress who always makes an impact is Kate Mara (and her sister too).

reply

You had me.. until your last comment (and her sister too). Did you SEE The Nightmare on Elm St. remake? She commanded me to go to sleep and find something worth watching. I'll say her sister is quite good. But Rooney bore me to sleep Mara? errr no.. she had maybe six lines in The Social Network. So I am not going to say "she stole that movie" and the Dragon Tattoo remake? err.. sorry the original Swedish version hands down. And that from a huge Fincher fan (and I am seriously pulling for Gone Girl to work, although I think he would have been better suited to Dark Places but alas).

reply

I agree that Kate Mara is more impressive than Rooney Mara. I don't put Rooney Mara as low down the ladder as you do, but I agree Kate Mara is clearly better than Rooney Mara. That's why I didn't name Rooney Mara directly. Kate Mara is one of my 5 favorite actresses. Rooney Mara is not in my top 10, but I still liked her in Ain't Them Bodies Saints.

Kate Mara is a stunner. Every since she showed up on Nip/Tuck I was like "who is THAT? oh my gawd oh my gawd"

"I said no camels, that's five camels, can't you count?"

Also I saw Kate Mara on the Letterman show last week. She's got her hair dyed blonde now.

reply

Kate Mara has a stunning rack; hot ever since 'Sniper', esp with shotgun in hand.

Oh. See doesn't have any.

God awarded Kate ... a lot better than flacky/tacky trophies. Rooney's 'pair' are nice, but Kate's are FANTASTIC. See?

reply

I'd disagree, although I certainly think she still hasn't landed "the" role, to open our eyes to her talent.

In comedies, I think she just radiates -- 70's Show, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Friends With Benefits...she was damn good in all of those (damn sexy too, but that's besides the point).

Black Swan she was also very good in, but she was definitely taking a back seat to Portman. And then stuff like Oz, well...yeah, she was brutal in that, but also badly miscast and stuck in a terribly written role. Not much to blame her for there.

Long story short...I like her. Maybe I'm biased cause I think she's drop dead gorgeous, and have ever since I was in grade 7 and saw her in 70's Show, but I still think she's got more talent and acting chops than you give her credit for. Let's just wait until she finds the perfect role to utilize those in (judging from the trailer -- this one isn't it).

Personally, I don't even consider her a "pretty face", never have. The eye of the beholder etc etc... Plus that voice is like nails on a chalkboard.

reply

She's similar to Emma Stone. A little Hotter, but not quite as talented.

reply

I think she is cute, in want her as a girlfriend attractive. Think she was really good in "Black Swan" let's face it the material and director can make good actors look bad.

I didn't think anyone in this movie really had anywhere near a great performance.

reply

Has that 'exotic Russian' look. But the chalkboard voice, yeah -- goes along with Kutcher's tho -- he's the Gomer Pyle of this century.
