Star Wars homages? (spoilers)

The lightning shooting out of the wizards' fingers, Merlin using his magical powers to retrieve his sword, Merlin's wise master dying before his training was complete, Vendiger's revelation that he is Merlin's brother- followed by the line "join me and together we can rule the world..."

It seems to me like the writers were watching the Star Wars saga just before making this film.

Anyone else?

By the way, I thought that the song "Chain of Promise" was really good at the end, and I liked three of the actors, but the rest of the actors seemed really bad to me. The king at the beginning didn't even seem like he was paying attention. If there is a sequel, I hope they keep Simon Lloyd Roberts as Merlin and Dylan Jones as Uther. Jurgen Prochnow was good as the Mage, too. The rest of the cast seemed pretty wooden, but it could have been poor editing and/or direction. I wouldn't be too surprised to find out that some of the scenes might have been taken from rehearsal footage, or filmed without anyone announcing "action."

I agree with you.... only knowing that this was a low budget movie filmed in under 2 weeks... I thought it was put together really well.

As regards to a sequel, I think that the writers should develope Merlin and Uther's characters more and build up the character relationship between them!!

And fingers crossed, with a bigger budget and more time to film .... we could have a special film on our screens!!!
