The voting of the IMDB users says it all.
Everything about this travesty of a movie is bad.
The acting is atrocious - either wooden or over the top.
The direction is pedestrian.
The story is quite pathetic.
And the special effects are quite dreadful.
It should score nil out of 10 but IMDB doesn't accept that scoring, so I gave it 2/10 just to be a nice guy.
And let's hope that they don't bother with a sequel as is threatened in the final scene.
I absolutely agree, as a matter of fact I did not get to the end of the movie (if we call it that) due to such horrid acting. While the story itself was ok, that is what made me watch it as far as I did, the acting looked much like you would see if a group of frat guys got together one drunken D&D night and decided to play for real instead of with their little dice.
But yes, in a time of the 21st century with incredible tools and technology as well as good potential actors (Jürgen Prochnow upstaged everyone. I think he was the best actor there from the lot), a movie like this should have never been spawned. But I guess it all boils down to the casting crew.
I only gave it a 1. simply because I could not see how it was getting a 10!!?

I dont see what people like about the Sword and the sorcerer. Ive tried to watch it 3 times just because I usually like those kind of movies. Every time it faild me and gave me a disappointed and bored evening. The worst part is I cant pinpoint whats so bad/uninteresting about it.
Anyway Im looking forward to se this Merlin movie, because my taste in fantasy movies is beyond bad, and all the films everybody hates here on IMDB (such as this one) I find "not so bad, really":)
Also there is supposed to be an even worse Merlin movie called "Merlin and the book of beasts". Im going to have the perfect evening!
I was right! Merlin and the war of the dragons was not so bad, really!

shareThis film was truly awful on so many fronts. I am pretty sure it beats the Almighty Thor as The Asylum's worst film - how it has a much higher rating is a mystery (not really, there are actually glowing 10 star reviews which is clearly not just down to taste being subjective). The main problem is comparing the two is that it is almost impossible to sit through either of them and my brain desperately tries to erase the memories before they are even safely stored away.

Definitely not whom I would choose.
You know, I can be a bit of a movie snob, but I actually enjoyed this movie. I have to agree that the acting isn't going to win any oscars, but the low budget special effects didn't bother me, and the minimalist script didn't either. It and the slightly disjointed cuts gave it a bit of New Wave feel, and I really liked the story.
Of course it doesn't hurt that I'm a fan of magic, Arthurian romance, and anything set in the Middle Ages.
