They got married at a young age. Joanna even asks Michael whether he thinks that they rushed and got married before their characters and personality even develop.

I, for one, believe that Michael was the one more likely to cheat. Simply due to the fact that it's temptation what he encountered. While Joanna had also encountered the same, her actions were more likely to be forgiven. Unlike Michael, who's merely attracted to his co-worker, Joanna bumped into her past love. Emotions rushed through her body. Memories of the time they spent together in Paris came back to her, thereby weakening every ounce of her being. It wasn't a matter of emerging hormones or spur of the moment type of thing (Michael's experience) Joanna did her best to remain faithful. She even came back to her senses the day after their first argument and wrote that letter.

The marriage is, unfortunately, ruined. You can tell by the ending when Joanna tried to get out of her Michael's almost confrontation when he noticed the fancy heels and the make up from the previous night. She clearly reacted as if she was going to change the subject. Now, they can try to mend the marriage, but I don't think it'll be the same if at all. We saw how Joanna reacts to doubts and jealousy in the beginning. Not to mention, the possibly of her being with Alex again. I don't believe she'd be able to continue on with this marriage.
