After the Michael Douglas character gets into the fight at the campus, and the security guard realizes that this character is the same guy that sold him a car that cost him $9K, the guard mentions something about buying the car and finding out that it was a leased car. Can anyone explain what he said?

I think Ben sold the guard's COUSIN a car that was leased, not the guard himself.
shareKalmen's dealership made the guy think he was paying a loan, but he was only paying lease payments.
When you purchase, you OWN the car outright after completing the term of loan. In a lease, the payments only cover the amount of depreciation during the contract term... meaning there is a bunch owed at the end, unless you want to give the car back. In this case, $9,000.
