What an obnoxious daughter Michael Douglas character had? How can anyone treat their dad like that? Its not like he was a murderer or threated to kill her. She leaves her dad in the cold, and bans him from seeing his grandson, just because he was was unreliable. After years raising her, thats the respect he gets back. What a bitch!

shareBeing unreliable is a big deal. As somebody who grew up with an unreliable father and was constantly let down by him I can totally relate the situation. Sure they only showed one example but there is plenty of back story given showing that it's not a rare thing for that kind of thing to happen. She finally had enough when he slept with one of her son's mother and had a negative impact on that relationship. Did she go a little over board? Perhaps but that's how people react sometimes. I think how much she stuck by him given everything shows exactly how much of a "bad daughter" she wasn't. I personally found Jenna Fischer's scenes some of the best in the movie. I thought it was great to see her in something else besides The Office and thought she did a great job. Perhaps your just unable to relate to the situation and had a great Dad. Hope you did.
shareYeah I understand what you are saying, but if the roles were reversed I dont think the dad would ever want to have his daughter out of his life, regardless of how unreliable she was. I believe the love should be equal both ways, it just seems some offspring dont reciprocate the same amount of love towards their parents.
And yes, I do have a great Dad.

Yeah, I didn't like how she treated him, maybe if she knew about what was going on with him, she would've reacted differently.
