Great movie but He wouldn't have been hired in NYC.

I think this movie is great and so is Brad's story. I am glad that he didn't come to New York City to teach though (for his sake) because they wouldn't have hired him or his administration would have hounded him for his disability.

I say this because A: I work for the NYC department of Education as a teacher, and B: I have multiple learning disabilities.

I have ADD and a learning disability in reading comprehension. I can't read the Scarlett Letter to save my life but I love Allison Weir, a historical writer mainly focusing on Henry VIII.

I have to keep my disabilities a secret because the people in my administration are very cruel to disabled teachers and overly polite to disabled students. The students get warnings onend and the teachers get hounded and actually called stupid and incompetent.

It is such a shame that that the ADA regulations are not officially met in NYC, and perhaps other places. By officially I mean, that they may have to hire you but they don't have to respect you -- mainly because they think you won't notice!

You're laborers, you're supposed to be laboring! That's what you get for not having an education!!
