Luke Ford was really talking about himself

I had to laugh when I saw Luke Ford pop up in this documentary. He was presented as an author and expert on porn but that's being generous. Luke was a blogger that ran a porn gossip site. He wrote a book and then self published it and sold about 10 copies.

Luke is infamous for being a depressed, self loathing misanthrope. His long unkempt beard was something he started after he started his exit from the porn blog biz. It kind of suits him since he was always a loner with little to no friends.

When he was talking about the hard life of rejection and isolation of former porn stars he was really talking about himself. Luke changed his blog back and forth several times over the years from porn to religious topics to current events to a personal diary. In each incarnation he always injected his own brand of self hatred.

He's made a niche for himself as being somebody you can always count on to say that porn is horribly damaging. It's always good for a laugh since every thing he says is really just him projecting his feelings about himself onto others.

And he was wearing a yamakah while talking about porn. That was weird.

Thanks for giving some background. I found most of the interviews interesting but that guy in particular sounded weirdly harsh and negative. I wonder why they even included him in the documentary since he had nothing relevant to add except for some vague judgmental rants.

At the time he was the go to resource for finding out what happened to retired porn stars but he's a full blown nutbag

Maybe you answered your own question.

He's really weird, he's really bitter about his situation.

Was that the guy with the jewish thing on his head? That guy seemed like a real loser prick.

I noticed that every time he spoke in this film, he repeated the same 2 or 3 ideas.

How did he have enough material to write an entire book?

Oh yes it's Laaarry Holmes/and the feeelin's right/Oh yes it's Laaarry Holmes/what a fight

He was a little freaky, one of those types that pretends to hate porn but probably watches plenty of it.

Some of the things he did say made me think. When people choose porn as a career, or for whatever reason are compelled to go into it, you are going to isolate yourself. We (wrongly) live in a society where sex is a dirty thing and selling sex is the ultimate sin and it is a choice that an individual makes. Even though the society is unjust, they are making that choice in a climate they know exists.

I guess it's akin to a muslim woman not wearing a head scarf or having sex outside marriage in a fundamentalist nation. They will be banished, loose contact with their family and even risk physical harm. They know this will happen, so it is a foreseeable consequence of their actions but it's the society that's ultimately wrong; the individual has no moral culpability.
