Terrible....

I thought the movie was terrible. It was biased and poorly scripted.

It wasnt believable at all and did more damage than good.

You are just mad because you are the angry black woman that the movie is talking about. We have seen a 100 movies about a no good black man and you can't take one? You are truly a sad woman. Have a nice day.

reply

Why just because she doesn't like/or agree with the movie and gives it a thumbs down, she must be an angry black woman?
Why must she be a sad woman?
I didn't like it nor agree with it either and I'm neither sad or angry.
Have a nice day.

If I was married to the crazy broad in this movie she would have got a 50 caliber bullet from 750 yards while I would have been somewhere eating a hamburger. I know snipers.

I don't understand why disliking the film means she's an angry black woman. I haven't seen the film, nor do I care to after seeing this message board...but, Her primary concern and reason for dislike was that the movie did more damage than good.

Based on your comment alone, it's easy to agree. If the point you're deciding to make is that since there are movies portraying black men in a negative light there needs to be one portraying black women in a negative light too...then, yes it's done with malice and ill intent, therefore it's doing more damage.

The film's purpose shouldn't be to one up the negative publicity for black women. It's unfortunate that that is what its being used for. I'd rather watch a film that transcends all of the racial BS and stereotypes of "mad black woman" or "no good black man" and just watch honest, spiritually led, imperfect black love.

LilMsDiva, I have seen this "film" (in fact, I own it) and if you haven't seen it by now, God bless you. The only possible reason you could have for wanting to see it at this point is that your curiosity finally got the best of you. Everything you, baltimoregoddess, and a few other sistas on this board have said is right on point. This film does infinitely more harm than good to "us" getting together and really working things out.

Instead of this, I recommend that you see Janks Morton's "What Black Men Think." It doesn't focus specifically on black male-female relationships, but it's a lot more insightful and intelligently done.

Some women may have been reminded of themselves by Tonya and her posse of self-proclaimed STRONG BLACK WOMEN. When Tonya gets a new boyfriend, the first time he hits her, she will realize how good she had it but didn't want none of that.

If you have not seen the film, you should not even attempt to comment on it. Maybe the type of person you are is the reason someone such as the director of the film chose to make this film.

Looks like Black men suffer from Nice Guy Syndrome too.

reply

Tim, if this is really you, I'm glad. Now I can tell you personally that this "film" is garbage. You should give a brotha a refund.

I actually really enjoyed this film (I'm a black woman by the way). I watched it with my black fiance. I mean, there was no reason for me to feel threatened by it, I'm not angry, nor am I emotionally unstable. I thought there were great points in the film that were made. A lot of good men, black or otherwise are made to suffer because of baggage from the past. My fiance and I had a great discussion about a lot of the topics that were brought to light. Even if you don't consider yourself to be an angry black woman, or a tired black man, it doesn't hurt to discuss the issues of other relatioships, so that you don't fall into the same trap. Good film.

"Biased and poorly scripted"...wow, sounds like a description of just about every "fed-up black woman" movie ever released.

Truth hurts, don't it? ;-)

I'm with you 100%, baltimoregoddess. The only thing close to a saving grace in it is that young sister who was majoring in media studies at Brown University. She called Tim Alexander on his b.s. right off the bat, and he was too stupid to give her any credit. I really wished I could find her and give her a hug for the way she represented herself.
