Worth watching

I've been waiting to see this for a while, especially given that I know a lot of the people who made it. I knew how low the budget was, so I wasn't expecting Lord of the Rings. All in all, it's worth watching if you like low budget fantasy. It was certainly better than Eragon and Dungeons & Dragons, with their $100 million and $35 million budgets. The acting is a little off, the effects are passable, but I actually enjoyed it. It has an original take on dragons and some nice camera work (as long as you omit that one fight scene). So if it does ever hit the States, kick back and give it a chance.

This movie was rubbish!

Hell this move made both the first Dungeons and Dragons live action movie and the Dragonlance animate moves seem like cinematic masterpieces. If it is in the 1 dollar bin you might consider it otherwise don't waste your time or money

It sounds like your connections with people involved have clouded your judgement. I haven't seen the movie but then I always avoid low budget fantasy of this type, experience has taught me it almost always dissapoints.

I'm wondering though, you mention liking low budget fantasy, care to name some that you thought were good?

Actually ended up enjoying this one more than I had expected...
There were some very nice character moments, the writing was better than a lot of multi-million dollar movies... When I care about the characters, I am happy enough. The kissing scene - very tender, drawn out as it was.
The fight scenes were terrible, but more due to a lack of confidence - I can forgive it when actors are not suspended from wires when fighting, and just hacking into eachother with swords or staves, but I don't like the shaky camera style - it basically leaves nothing to watch. A pity, since the camera work in other instances was beautiful, lyrical.
All in all, the movie shows heart, and I'd not mind seeing a sequel!...

I agree. Not the best movie I've ever seen, but I'm sure more folks will watch this than a lot of the Oscar nominated movies.

I think that a bit of back story would have done the film some good, as well as a bit more focus on the main characters. I mean really, what was the deal with Oswin?

Don't you EVER post here again.

There is one reason, and one reason alone, why this movie *might* be worth watching to anyone and that is Kelly Stables - all 5' (1.52 m) of her :)
Because Kelly is positively HAWT!
Still, I do recommend turning the sound off and fast-forwarding to the scenes with Kelly only.

An original take on dragons how?

reply

I'm assuming he meant the growing of them inside humans. I hadn't seen that before.
