MPAA rating coming soon?

I'm curious is this film gonna get a MPAA rating?

reply

I just watched this on a review screener. It's definitely going to get a solid R.

How was the film? Was it great? I'm really excited for it!

I can't say very much, since like a lot of movies, there's an embargo on pre-release press coverage (i.e. one of the conditions with receiving the screener is that you not post your review before December 5.) However, I don't think the studio will mind me saying that I liked it quite a bit. Michael Shannon is very good, as expected, and the story is rather interesting. The film also has a really well developed noirish vibe, in terms of cinematography and set design.

The new ad today announcing the digital release on December 6th and blu ray on February 7th says "not rated" at the very end screen. I'm guessing either they didn't bother getting it rated, or Universal figured it would get an NC-17 so they wanted to avoid that stigma by releasing it without a rating instead.

Having seen it, I don't think this would even come close to an "NC-17." I think it is just a case of the distributor not caring enough to send it off to the MPAA.

Exactly. i have just finished seeing it myself and i can assure you a NC-17 rating would not be the case.

it's definitely 'R rated' as i think that's pretty clear cut.
