Love this movie. Really respect John.

I am an arm wrestler in the most basic sense of the word. I am 36 now. When I was in my late teens, early 20's I was pulling 50-60 times a weekend at the bars. I only recall one time being beaten and it was a total ass whipping. This guy had forearms like *beep* hams and I could not top roll him because of his wrist strength so I tried hooking him and I could not budge him.

I used to have people lining up to pull me all night. haha. At the end of the night my forearm would be so tense it was like having a *beep* softball under my skin.

Later on in the years I was at a party, a lot of older guys and one of them was a former pro or something. I pulled him twice and almost beat him. He was shocked at my explosive start. I had developed a technique using the hook and a start that was so fast and powerful that eventually i got tired of the sport. I was not a champion or anything, but aside from 1-2 guys around here, I couldnt find anyone to pull that was worth a darn.

I was at work not to long ago and there are a bunch of younger guys, 18-25 years old who were talking about arm wrestling. I am a big dude, about 300lbs, my forearms are huge. One kid said it looked like I had legs for arms. I eventually pulled all of them and after all these years, it was like clockwork. I smoked each one a few times and even let them use 2 arms just for *beep* and giggles. Still smoked them.

I am not bragging, heh, not much to brag about. But I often wonder, what if?

I would like to get back in to the sport but I am so far from anything resembling society that I would have to travel probably 6-8 hours to find any sort of organized competition.

John is a real legend and a treat to watch. So *beep* strong. I would like to pull him one time to see if I could budge him hahaha.

Have you ever pulled with professional/competitive armwrestlers, or at an official tournament? You mention you pulled a guy at that party who was a former pro.

Just curious.

The simple answer is, in all due respect, if you're not a professional and a high-level one at that, you wouldn't budge John Brzenk at all. Or any of the other top pullers in the heavier weights. This question comes up a lot. There are tons and tons of guys who have armwrestled their whole lives and never lost but when they pull a pro they get smoked. Let alone a top guy like John. I realize you aren't bragging or saying you could give John a match, I'm just saying if you are actually wondering for real, there is no question about it.

OP, are you sure there isn't a club somewhat near you? Where do you live? I could ask around and find the nearest team to you if you wanted.

EDIT: Yesterday (Feb. 16, 2013) Richard Lupkes came to our practice in Minneapolis. This was a huge deal! Richard is one of the very best of all time, and I believe he has more wins on John Brzenk than anyone else. Rich is 6'3" and about 320 lbs, and is now 55 yrs old I think. He was pulling Brzenk way back in the 80's. His strength is unreal! Our strongest guy is 6'4" and about 270 lbs and has been pulling one year. He couldn't even budge Rich at all. So that's the point I was making initially.

You can check out the videos of practice with Rich on Josh Handeland's youtube channel, "Handelandj"

The guy I pulled at the party was supposedly a pro at one time, not sure if he was an award winner, but he was tough, one of the toughest people I have ever pulled.

I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in a town called Gladstone. Small town. I tried a search online and havent come up with anything yet, but I am still looking.

I pulled some more guys at work today. Big guys, they didn't fare to well. The first guy was about 6'4 300lbs, hooked him and it was over in literally about 2 seconds. Second guy I let him get the jump to see if he could do much more than the first and he was not really much stronger. I dont mention this because I think it is fun beating up on others, I just dont get much arm wrestling action where I am at.

I am doing a lot of walking, getting back in shape. I was told the other day that I look like I am slimming down a little, didnt even realize it, I am down 20lbs at least. I wondered why my clothes were so loose, I thought they were just getting old.

But, no. I have never pulled at anything resembling a organized match. It used to be a weekend at the bar thing here a long time ago and I fell into it. I still love it, and know I would get beat for a few years at a higher level, but I think eventually I could become pretty good. My start and my endurance are my strong points. I can hold people all day at the level I am at now. I know at a higher level things get tough though.

I am still a newbie when it comes to pulling, but I would love to train with some organized group.

I will ask my guy Josh if he knows a group close to you.

Good luck. If you enjoy pulling, I really suggest you pull on an armwrestling table with some trained guys at least once. It's fun and a great challenge.
