David said that as a warning. He knew Harold, his friend and business associate, was into his new girlfriend Tina. Harold made it very clear everytime he saw her. Even though David and Tina came into the office together, Harold didn't see them. So, he didn't know they were now a couple. When David caught Harold checking Tina out as she was leaving, he knew it was a matter of time before Harold would make a play for her. So David "marked" his territory, let Harold know Tina was now off limits to date.

A true dude would never say anything like that. It just made his character sound even crazier, IMO.
