if all the comedy was removed and tried to be scary or more dramatic with darker and heavier tones women seem to like heavier darker movies.

Yeah and men seem to like sweeping generalisations.

Or, a better script and director and cast.. Melissa and Wiig are fine, but the other two sucked.

if they weren't goofy and the secretary wasn't stupid if might have worked. Like since the guys are enjoying retirement now they trained their best students to take over the job.
