Real Sex

I am pretty sure the sex was real between Cal and Olivier.

And you would be absolutely wrong.

How do YOU know?

Hmmm?

You're kidding, right? I mean surely you can't be dense enough to actually believe these actors were engaging in real sex?

reply

Do you only watch mainstream hollywood garbage ? A lot of great films use unsimulated sex, so it's not a dumb question.

Did you note the oxymoron? Asking me if I only "watch mainstream hollywood garbage" on a discussion board for SHANK? Dear God.

No, I assure you, my film tastes and viewing habits are without boundary. Hence me being here at all, again, on a message board for SHANK.

That question is about as egregious as your suggestion that "a lot" of great films use unsimulated sex. Sorry, but this discussion doesn't cover your favorite porn.

Meanwhile in the Film world outside of the San Fernando Valley, unsimulated sex is still quite rare. There are literally thousands of films for every one that features unsimulated sex. You are confusing an increased number of films that do use it with there being "a lot". Sorry, it's still a very rare phenom.

And for the films that DO feature it, you would never be asking if the sex is unsimulated. Not only would the film be known for such, but also, and I don't mean to give you a basic sex education level here, you can always tell when human beings are actually having sex. Might want to do some field research on that.

This is a film that doesn't even use unsimulated sex and you refered to it as porn so I feel as though maybe you don't know what porn is. I've seen quite a few films that use such a technique, suppose my cinematic viewing extends beyond yours? I'm not claiming this is a good movie, in fact I didn't like much about it. You can ALWAYS tell when people are having real sex? lol really huh? Interesting... You don't overgeneralize at all huh ? And I assume you're used to mainstream crap because you used the word porn incorrectly... fool.

I never said it was unsimulated, but it's not a stupid question to ask. Weird that he would be so uncomfortable, he would have to read the script before agreeing to the film. Oh well.

All I saw were a bunch of flaccid penises throughout the entire movie. Not sure how you determined the sex in the movie was real.

I cannot get over the stupidity of some of the comments on this thread...of course it is not real sex - it is NOT a porno. This is a really great film and if people are seeking sexual gratification from it they really are looking in the wrong place.

Yes the guys are cute/hot but the story and pace of the film and narrative twists and turns are what kept me glued to the end...not some sexual desire for a quick one off the wrist!

I imagine the film makers must we spinning that their film has been denigrated so!

Although it was convincing in a lot of ways, and even though I'm no expert considering I'm of the opposite gender, from what I've been told by many gay men sex can be painful when the one being penetrated isn't aroused. Considering that you can catch glimpses of Olivier's appendage during this particular scene and considering that it is obviously not erect, it would be unlikely that the sex was real. Also, I believe the U.K. has some pretty strict laws concerning that stuff, so it's again, unlikely. Another point to mention is that the angle doesn't seem to be quite right to accommodate actual sex. As for the scenes with Johno, I can't provide any tangible reasons to doubt it except for the regulations thing, as it was much too dark and the camera angles wrong to see anything to prove or disprove your theory.

No disrespect meant at all and again I must state I have no way to know anything for sure in real life or for this film, but those are the reasons I think explain why this movie most likely didn't have the actors actually having sex.

I hope that helps. Take care.
