Cole Train: Most retarded VG character ever?

He's def in the top five. Look, I enjoy the cheesy dialogue in gears, some of it's the so bad it's good kind, and the char of Marcus and Dom, while in no way really memorable, are decent characters. Baird's ok. But jesus, every time Coletrain opened his mouth I just wanted to brain myself, and I've only played 2/3rds of the Gears 2. I'm almost praying he dies in the third game.

Maybe it's just me, but he pretty much exemplifies why Gears gets such a bad rep for being imature and stupid. Without the char, the gears franchise is alot like the RE franchise, cheesy characters and dialogue that still manages to be fun.

Coletrain is nothing more than a trainwreck (ha. see, that's a joke he might make, except he'd add the word bitchass several times throughout)

Hes actually my favorite character. I wish they didnt have stupid diologue as well. That would make the game so much better in so many freakin ways.

the cole train is freakin jacked man, i mean that guy is insanely big, but yeah i like the cole train even though he has some of the stupidest lines ive ever heard, carmine is badass

Yeah I don't HATE his char that much, it's just the wriitng is so aweful for him.
"more like rotten nasty toe jam ass" - just an example.

I don't want a three dimensional work of art from him, just wish the humor was more funny/lame than groan myself into an ulcer/lame.

He has some of the best lines and memorable scenes in the games. Take Cole out of GOW2 or Delta and the game looses a lot of energy. The fact that someone would claim he's the most retarded character and Carmine (who behaved foolishly and got himself killed)isn't is suspect at the very least. Stereotypical yes. Retarded no. Cole is still alive. Carmine isn't.

Just because someone dies/ is clumsy doesn't mean they're bad characters. I think the intense firefights and action is what gives gears the energy, but idk, maybe it's just me.

noooo cole is hilarious !! he's the humour aspect of the game and with the deep story and intense gamepay, you want a moment where you can smile at something cold is shouting about.

I just don't get the appeal, I find humor in the macho (but cheesy) dialogue of Marcus and Dom.

"They're sinking cities with a GIANT WOOORRRM!!!"

There must be a *beep* load of guys down there.
"More like ten *beep* loads."

But I don't have any problem with people liking Cole. Glad you enjoyed him.

i've read the books and the reason he is in jock mode constantly is its his way of coping with the sheer pain/greif of losing his family and the possiablity of humanity going exstict

though he comes off like a jock, there is a back story to him.
almost all the characters are coping in some way
barid fixes machines
dom searches for his wife (spoiler that why he is very grieved when he finally finds her and cant accept that she isn't the same as she was before)
marcus kinda bottles it and lets his anger out in battle
anya works her tail off for the COG (special intrest for delta squad,aka marcus)
hoffmen is a ruthless CO, because he thinks that if your not doing your best humanity will fall to the locust

Cole is funny and one of the best characters. Carmine is the stupid character.

Yeah... it's like when they wrote the character they were like

"We need another character... A BLACK GUY!"
"Ok, what's he like?"
"HE'S BLACK!"
"What?"
"Yeah, he's black get writing"

Cole is the worst stereotype since Uncle Remus.

I loved him in the 1st game. Found a lot his lines hilarious "the train is a smoooth ride", "The train is at home on the rails!" But besides from his curse laiden speech in the 4th act, he's not very funny in the 2nd, just more annoying.
