This Film Bored Me To Tears

Wasted money on this DVD, as it proved to be extremely tedious and boring, and I just felt it was one of the worst horror movies I had ever seen. I hated everything about this movie, especially the annoying way in which it kept going from one scene to another, so that you hardly knew exactly what was going on. The flashbacks were equally annoying, and the disembowelment scenes were seemed to have just been thrown in as gore for gore's sake. The characters were totally uninteresting, and so shallow that you could feel no sympathy or empathy for them whatsoever.

And can somebody PLEASE tell me why so many actors in today's movies - and I am not just talking about horror films here - mumble their lines so inaudibly, to the extent that you can barely understand what they are talking about? In the old films, the actors spoke clearly, and you didn't have to higher the volume on the TV to hear them properly.

Why can't they make decent horror movies anymore?

Bring back Hammer and Universal!

Agreed. Especially about the mumbling their lines part. I thought it was just me, and maybe my hearing was going out. But it seems like every movie has at least one character who whispers their lines to 'make it more intense.' It gets annoying to constantly have to flip the volume up and down depending on who is speaking... glad it's not just me having this problem with current movies and TV...

I'm a old school horror fan too (Child of the 70's) but Let Hammer and Universal stay dead... If your judging these companies as gospel pay attention to the turd fest they produced at the end of their classic horror movie runs...

This movie was nowhere near as bad as you people profess. but it's your opinion and of course your entitled to it but the hate is ridiculous on this board.

BUT I do agree I'm sick of the mumbling lines stuff, too many movies do this, It sucks big time when your kids asleep and your trying to watch a movie on low at night and you have to raise it real quick to just lower it when a over the top special effect sound comes screaming off the screen....

Ok you didn't like the film,
But why so much hatred over a movie?

In my experience, the reason that indie film often has quieter sound, or worse intermittently loud/quiet sound, is for 3 common reasons.

1. Lack of a sound stage to build the sets on, that would allow for actors to be recorded without the interference of ambient sounds from shooting on location. (something that most indie films cannot afford in their production budgets)

2. Lack of lav mic's. (mic's that can clip to your shirt or clothing.) Something, again, that is more prominent on bigger budget productions.

3. Lack of post production funds for extensive ADR (automatic dialogue replacement), when an actor dubs over himself for a crisper, louder recording.

These are all things that studio films have in spades. Studio films have budgets JUST for the "sound department" that often dwarf the entire budgets for some indie films.

having said that, I don't remember Necromentia being that hard to hear. I remember the sound fx were really impressive when I saw it though. But of course, ultimately, I am biased.

You guys are just way too picky. Time after time I see at least moderately good horror/slasher flicks like this one (I thought it was killer, and had a nice feel to it), and come on the internet to find purist "horror-loving" fanbrats dissect and pick apart the very titles that make the genre. You all seem to HATE horror, not like it. Find another kind of movie and GTFO. Obviously nothing's ever gonna be good enough for you.

Sometimes a horror movie's so good it's timeless, and deserves to go on classic lists. Sometimes you've just got to accept a film for what it is and go for the ride. Goddamn. Get over yourselves.

Maybe if you had finished watching it, it wouldn't have "sucked ass" as much. It's definitely a harder story line to follow, and from the looks of things may be above your mental capacity. I rather enjoyed it. Once everything came together the story line was brilliant. I do agree it could have been filmed better, but Teo filmed it in his home town with not a lot to go off off. Much like Craven's Last House on the Left (original). I have much respect for the movie, myself. I'm looking forward to more movies from Teo.

I just finished watching Skeleton Crew which was made the same year. This movie looks like masterpiece compared to that crap. The images were creepy enough as was the story of making a deal with the devil and not expecting to get screwed.

Lois & Clark 4EVER!!!
DC can SUCK IT!!!!

I wasn't BORED to tears as the movie had some pretty decent imagery, a decent amount of gore & was acted "OK"...the movie's PLOT/STORY was the weakest link. At some points I honestly didn't know what was going on!
