I loved SG-1 especially after the first few seasons. It took me a couple seasons to get used to Atlantis then I think I even preferred that in the end.
I have only watched the first season of this and so far it is the best.
I'm liking this one the best, mostly because of Rush. I've always been a fan of Robert Carlyle, and Dr Nicholas Rush is one of his best performances to date. I finished the first season and I'm still waiting for Young to get it together. He seems woefully unqualified, not just to be the captain, so to speak, but even to be a colonel. He just doesn't seem to be too good at anything, but so far he hasn't done too much damage and him and Rush are starting to work together, so I'm hoping for improvement in shipboard conditions in the second season. One aspect I really love about this show is that the IOA can't do anything to affect the people on the ship. Not that they haven't tried! I never did like any of the IOA personnel, except for Woolsey.

Wow.. I would venture to guess you didnt enjoy SG1 as much as the rest of us then. Because these shows are completely different in content and quality.
SGU was an interesting break from Atlantis and SG1 but no where near the quality of them, hence the 2 seasons then dead.
Rush was a despicable human being. I think the shows producers eventually realized it when they did the Time episodes near the end.
He had no redeeming qualities and was basically the second half of Rodney, where Eli was the first. they tooknew Rodney and made him two people in this show. Rush would have been lynched in the first three episodes if this was real life. Being pragmatic is one thing, being Rush is something else.
