Laughable attempt at hollywood style movie

This is the 2nd bollywood movie I have watched raone being the other and this will be the last,If you want to watch an action movie just watch mi, die hard ,the bourne series bond or many other superior action movies .P.S this just a terrible attempt at hollywood style action.

reply

Who said they attempted to make it like hollywood style?

it's just you guys who are trying to compare it with hollywood.

reply

Yeah, even Bhojpuri films have bungee jumping scenes and Ethen like agents who hang up side down in a chamber while on heist, isn't it?

When you have insomnia, you're never really asleep... and you're never really awake.

reply

You must not of seen the oceans series, mission impossible or die hard if you think that don2 isnt trying to rip them off...Hollywood likes to remake foreign films but they havent remade any bollywood films because alot of them are just rip offs of hollywood films!

reply

Copying exists within Bollywood too in the garb of 'remakes'. Good bollywood movies like Don, Devdas etc are remade (and we know which insecure excuse of an actor always jumps to piggyback) but you don't see any takers for Bazigar, Dar, DDLJ etc. The first two are a decent watch though but no producer worth his salt risks his money in remaking them.

reply

Look I got no idea about bollywood movies none of the names mean anything to me Im from Australia Im just commenting on don 2

reply

"but you don't see any takers for Bazigar, Dar, DDLJ etc"

Are you serious? This is one of the most inane arguments I have seen. Don was remade after nearly 30 years and Devdas was remade after nearly 50 years!!

Obviously it is way too early to remake the movies you have mentioned

reply

There is no 'minimum time elapsed' criteria for remakes. Just the movie has to be good enough. Baazigar and Darr are 'contemporaries' of Agneepath.

"There is no 'minimum time elapsed' criteria for remakes. Just the movie has to be good enough."

WOW. All I can do is applaud your logic. You are basically saying that if a good movie is made this year, it is perfectly fine to remake it one year later. Never mind the fact that the original is still fresh in the audiences' mind.

Please let me know a movie that was remade (same language) while the actor of the original was still in his peak?

reply

Dude.. he got you.. he named Agneepath (1990) being remade now. That's it discussion Over .

reply

Oh yeah he got me. I guess Amitabh and Mithun are still in their prime.

Let us start remaking all SRK movies while he is still the one of the three biggest superstars of india.

reply

I think jonnydepth42 used same s-h-i-t-t-y technique used by Don to escape from mental asylum.:D

Oh look who it is. The troll himself. With nothing useful to say (as usual).

Coming back to the point, I wonder if all Aamir Khan/Akshay Kumar/Salman Khan movies from the 90s should start being remade as well?

Today Amitabh's star value is higher and global fan base wider than it was during the making of Don or Agneepath. Shahrukh on the other hand couldn't stand the test of time and tumbled quickly downhill through the past decade. Shahrukh's 'watchable' films of his early career actually need to be remade to redeem his fading star. For the lack of any other takers, Red Chillies should give a try.

---Never mind the fact that the original is still fresh in the audiences' mind----

Good movies are always fresh. While I don't consider them classics, the original Don and Agneepath are still very fresh in the memory unless one has severe amnesia. Farhan Akhtar had accepted that he has remade Don to enrage the fans and make them flock to the theatre for the sake of comparison. This is a tacit acknowledgement that the original is still fresh. Even if they trash the movie, it would set the cash registers ringing. And most of the original's fans did take the bait making Akhtar's ploy successful.

u should watch aamir khan and abhay deol starring movies for a delicate movie not a overrated overhyped actor starring movies like ra.one and don2,well if u want to watch good new bollywood movies then only

Overall I found the timing was off in all the major fight, car chase, and "blowing stuff up" scenes. Wasn't sure if this was because SRK was completely recovered from his earlier surgery, insufficient time to practice/train in the fight sequences, and/or if there was insufficient time to edit the film before rushing it out for the Christmas deadline.

In comparison, Krrish (2006) still stands as the Bollywood action film to be surpassed -- or for that matter, the Hollywood action film to be surpassed. Let's see Hollywood provide Krrish quality work for $10 - $12 million US!

On a more positive note, the Don 2 plot was enjoyable even with the various predictable plot twists (sorry fan screenwriters -- there wasn't much originality) and it provided a nice set up for Don 3 (which I look forward to watching soon!).

reply

You are wrong, the attempt wasn't even laughable.

reply

Actually it was an excellent attempt cause it had hollywood style action without the dushu dushu of yester years. It had realistic gunshot and explosion soun effects instead of the lame effects of 10+years ago. The hand to hand combat was profesional and not like an AB movie.

reply

The one thing i like about the movie was its action sequences fight and car chases i thought they were brilliant. Hollywood doesnt have great fight sequences, yeah mission impossibe had great action but after a second viewing, thy're not that great. There was hanna and fast five with some good fights.

But when i saw don 2 again and the fight at the bank was fricking awesome and the climax scene was to.

Though the movie couldve flogged everyone if the story took a diffrent turn had don take over the drug market instead of the police helping him
