Twist ending?

A couple of reviews I have read recently mention a twist ending. (http://www.brutalashell.com/2010/03/film-review-deadfall-trail-terror-in-the-wilderness/)

So for those of us who haven't seen it... any ideas? If you have seen it please no spoilers!~

Maybe the ending is the sick ass bloodbath(http://vimeo.com/7541794). like that topless bitch is grabbing them and drowning the guys? IS that to crazy?

reply

Hanson I really dont think that would be the ending. The chick is hot though, even all blood and sick. Maybe its not really a twist ending but just something really controversial. Like one of the guys becomes black and the other guy hangs him......thats pretty controversial and horrible. i cant believe i thought that, or even posted it but none the less im sure its good, especially since it was talked about on multiple occasions.

LOL! I doubt it's the Bloodbath clip cuz I doubt they would release that before the film. Then again who knows, dumber things have happened.

I wonder if maybe that one guy isn't actually dead and he saved the day? Anymore ideas?

reply

All wrong ! I could say but it really would ruin the film.

I couldn't make it to the end of this overacted mess, but I figured it was something as lame as the crazy guy just going more crazy.

Basically what happens in the last fifteen minutes or so is:

The crazy guy(Julian) ties up the young guy (John), then lets him go so he can hunt him down, or something like that. John gets the drop on him and ties Julian up explaining that "the ties won't hold you for long, but long enough so I can make it back to the car".

Then it shows John making his way through the forest and then bedding down for the night. In the morning he wakes up. As he lays there gathering himself, John looks up as a knife is coming at him. Cut to black. Next scene opens about waist high on a extreme close up of a large piece of wood (apparently stuck in the ground) while there is some movement around it. You hear this "squish" sound and then see blood start to run down the stake.

Cut to day 37. A helicopter and a search party apparently searching for the lost men. The search party calls out their names but nothing. One of the searchers finds the stake (probably with John's head on it, although we never really clearly see it), and radios for help. Then the same searcher turns around and sees Julian standing there naked, but covered head to toe with dirt. It looks like he was rolling around in black ash or something. Julian has this animalistic pose a la Predator, or the creatures from "The Descent". The other searchers hear the guy scream. Zoom in on Julian standing over the body of the searcher, cut to black.

Open on a picturesque view of the forest (or trail or whatever). The rest of the message from the beginning of the film plays. It's just the same kind of "you'll be changed forever" crap that picks up where the beginning left off. Fade to black. Credits role.

It was an ok film, but the filmmaker was mistaken when he thought filler was the same thing as suspense (or build up). It just kind of drags to the point where, when something does happen, you're annoyed when the moment is over because you know you're going to have to sit through more B.S. filler before something actually happens again.

Your synopsis is ok except the young guy's name is Paul. John was Julian's friend who he saved the previous time.

reply

Meh...he gets the point. Paul, John... By the end there's no difference anyway.

What part of this flick felt like filler to you all? I didn't feel like any of the scenes were entirely unnecessary.
