Boring, curious and odd in equal measure

Hmm, nothing new to see here, neither by way or effects or originality. I'm glad I watched it but don't think I'll be rushing for a second viewing. A little curio that I'm sure will find a niche audience... in time... maybe.

The story, such as it is keeps you guessing for the first 20 minutes. Thereafter it's all by the numbers and it's nothing horror and independent film fans haven't seen a hundred times before.

A word about the transfer; in a word, awful. I'm not sure if it's down to the filming or authoring process but given Troma's track record I think it's six of one and half a dozen of the other. Lines are blurred, combing, ghosting... you name it, all those pesky horrible things that detract from a good viewing experience are here as they are on virtually all of Troma's roster. The only technical aspect worthy of praise is the audio that makes the best of an interesting soundtrack, probably Dark Nature's only saving grace.

Don't go in with high expectations and you won't be too disappointed. Overall 5% thrills 95% boredom.

I suggest English buyers (what few there might be) hold out for a region 2 release as I can't imagine anyone doing any worse and I certainly can't recommend the Troma disc unless you find it, like, really really really cheap.

What we see as spectacle is in fact a ceremony

I agree with Beatdown- we've seen this all before. I just finished it, and I'm still not too sure what I just watched. The scenery was quite lovely, and the House played a character itself, I think.

All in all, not too bad, just mediocre 5/10.
