Does anyone think this will get a second series?

As I'm a fan of the original Minder series, I hope it does. Yes it's flawed but I feel it's improving with each episode. We need a light-hearted comedy drama in these supposedly difficult times.

My criticism of the series so far is Shane Richie and the background music. As much as he tries he doesn't really come close to George Cole, Timothy Spall would of been a better Archie and would of given it a greater gravitas. And turn down the bleeding music, if I wanted to listen to Mark Ronson I will listen to his album. The stories are little far-fetched and do go into the realms of silliness, (Archie and Jamie playing poker at a millionaire's house, Archie making ghost noises in the Winchester).

However I disagree that the characters from the original should be brought back. Not for the first series anyway. We need to get acquainted with Archie and Jamie (a good choice for a minder). Bringing Arthur and Terry into it so soon would of ruined the series before it has even hit it's stride. If the second series has more than six episodes then I certainly wouldn't mind an appearance by the original characters, possibly in a two parter.

Hopefully there will be more Minder after next week and hopefully Shane Richie will finally go to an acting class. He might then give the great George Cole a run for his money.

I'm also a fan of the original and I really hope this gets a second series. Characters such as Jamie and Petra are likeable, and-dare I say it-I've even come round to Archie Daley! He's not fit to lace Arthur's shoes, of course, but I'm finding myself laughing at some of his malapropisms. It would be great to see Arthur back at the very least in a cameo...

And yes, some of the stories are OTT but to me they're a bit of harmless fun. We could all do with a bit of a laugh in these doom-laden, credit crunch-riddled days! :-D

I hope this show gets a second series and I also think that bringing Terry back into the show for two episodes might be cool as well

I love Philip Winchester and Scott Tracy like hell

I can see where you are all coming from about Arthur back into the show but i don't see the point in bringing Terry back I mean don't get me wrong Terry was a great chacater in the origanal series but he has no real connection to this one where as Arthur (George Cole) does, his nephew Archie. Why would you bring back Terry when you have Jamie who is playing the hardman role qyite well I mean i just don't see what Terry would bring to the series except a tribute to the old Minder. Am I the only one who thinks thos or does anyone else think the same as me.

I agree with not bringing Terry back because it would just be a cameo probably like them meeting saying "Hi, i'm Arthur's nephew" it would be odd if Terry ever did any work for Archie like he would with Arthur.

I have loved Minder since I was about 11- I remember watching it in the very early 80s and continued right through until it finished.

I thought the 90s ones with Ray were seriously underrated- this was when George Cole was at his comedic best- the Australian trilogy, the Betamxes on the barge, the Caravan, the night he had to get drunk again to remember something that happened when he was previously drunk- so many great moments to choose from. My personal favourite moment from any episode from the 70s to now is when Ray tells Arthur to blend in in Australia so he buys a surf board but keeps wearing his coat and hat- priceless!!
Re-watch them if you haven't; most episodes are excellent.

I was very sceptical of this new series, especially as I'm not a fan of Richie but by the end I was really sad it was finishing. Everyone I know who watched it, loved it and they are all big fans of the original. The only thing I feel it is missing is the policefrom the original- they were all such good characters and their presence is missing in the new series.

I would love to see them bring Ray back for some episodes as he must be Archie's cousin- would be nice to see what he's been up to since Uncle Arfur retired.

George Cole later said in a different article that he wished them well for the series and said it was a possibility about coming back. No one knows why he changed his mind, I guess someone from the show contacted him and had a disscusion about the show.

This shoulda gotten a sceond series so we might see Terry McCann turning up

I love Philip Winchester and Scott Tracy like hell

I think it would have been Arthur showing up again more likely, i'm pretty sure the writers had ideas in mind on how to bring Arthur back but not Terry.
