“The Winklevai”

Flat out my favorite line of the film.

When he called the twins “The Winklevai”, it showed a complete lack of respect. Not that the twins deserved it, it’s just that it, to me, perfectly summed up Zuckerberg’s attitude and demeanor using just one word.

Agreed on both counts

Always annoyed me how the real life twins confidently claim Facebook would've been just as big under their control. If that were remotely true, they would've been just as successful creating something else, anything else, without Zuckerberg

Instead, they used their $65million Facebook settlement money to sue their own lawyers, before dumping the rest into bitcoin.

The Winklevai are parasites, not creators. They use their money and power to leech off the success of others.

Gemini.

dumping the rest into bitcoin?

They put the majority of their settlement money into Bitcoin and probably made a LOT of money doing so

But as with Facebook, they didn't MAKE anything.

They're just privileged rich kids who think they should be paid for just having ideas (they even starred in a self-parody pistachio nut commercial, claiming they should make money from their trick for opening pistachios - so good on them for that at least)

Real entrepreneurs know that ideas are cheap - what counts is the often enormous effort required to make those ideas into reality

I thought Jesse Eisenberg did an excellent job portraying the frustration a creator feels when all that effort is dismissed as something anyone could've done

(and in the actor's commentary, Eisenberg actually described a situation where he did all the work on a screenplay, but had to share writer's credit under a prior agreement)

Has Zuckerberg created anything?

Their idea was a dating site and it was based off being exclusive to Harvard. There was no way they’ve built anything like Facebook.

Like the rest of that line in the movie puts it. “The Winklevi aren't suing for intellectual property theft they are suing because for the first time in their lives, things didn't work out the way they were supposed to for them.“
