Yeah, but not just that. She kinda (surprisingly) gets to be a better person by the end of the movie, and realizes that Justin's character didn't have any real substance, or opinions, and was a wimp, so she went for the real guy.

It wasn't that Timberlake's character was any better looking than Segel's character. She was after money and Timberlake's character had that.

I think I have an answer for that. There is a subplot where this loser student has a crush on the class sexpot and during the class trip he eventually declares his love for her and embarrasses both of their asses. He runs away and Liz talks to him and she realizes that what the kid was doing was what the gym teacher was doing with her and she realized it was wrong.
