Ok so for those who are arguing that it WAS funny...

Please please tell me a specific funny part. Because I can't remember one. Maybe I am one of these uptight people that fans of the movie are saying we are for not finding it funny. But please tell me a funny part so I can go back and watch it again, perhaps they all went over my head?? Actually if you can tell me a part that wasn't boring or stupid that would be good too. Thanks everyone.

Watching trailers is the best way to spoil movies you're gonna see. Trailers may be great for some people, presumably those who know nothing about the movie industry (i.e. actors, directors, hypes etc.) but not for me.

reply

adding to that: all the funny parts were in the trailer. The movie deeply disappointed me. Not funny at all.

reply

This is perhaps the most idiotic response I have ever seen. I asked people to tell me a part that they thought was funny, so I can see what was meant to be funny, and you come back saying I can't complain because I didn't watch the trailer. Didn't address anything and your point is stupid.

reply

You didn't address anything either. If you saw the trailer and it didn't make you laugh, why would you waste time watching the entire movie, and then whine about it? You should have known better.

"Head or gut?"

reply

Like the previous guy said, I don't watch trailers either 90% of the time as nowadays they easily spoil movies.

I'm glad I didn't watch the Scott Pilgrim trailer and went in blind for example.

reply

It is... but you're on the internet so expect answers like this.

I haven't seen the movie... and I take the reviewers seriously, so I one of them said "bad teacher? maybe. bad film? absolutely" f the trailer, I'm not wasting time on this, not even if diaz has a hardcore scene in it.

reply

youre beyond help! the more you write, the more you expose your ignorance. Just Stop.

reply

Well your logic is stupid. I watched the trailer and thought it would be a good and funny movie...
but after viewing it, its on my list of 'worse films ever made'. So what would you like to say about dem apples you stuck up know it all?

reply

I liked the whole Phyllis Smith's character, she was so sweet and hilarious, in my opinion. I also liked all the stuff that happened in a gym, like when Jason Segel's character tried to show that he's a good gym teacher and failed :). And when he called a student Twilight :). There were many funny moments.

reply

This movie was hilarious. That crazy red head talking to the principle in the mens room, her crazy twitches, cameron picking on her students, that dorky ass poetry kid, cameron getting caught smoking weed by a student, cameron spitting the cookies out instead of trying to be polite, justin bieber dry humping cameron.. honestly there probably wasnt more than 2-3 scenes that went by that me and my buddies were not laughing.

If you didnt like it, then please give me an example of what comedies you like.

reply

Those jokes are of the type that mainly appeal to a younger audience. I'm guessing you're still in school, correct? I think I would have loved this movie 15 years ago or so. Nothing wrong with being young, I'm just saying.

reply

Im 27. I think maybe you are in an abusive relationship that involves you having someone take a dump on your chest everyday. If that is the case then I understand, nothing wrong with being a nut case.

reply

I am 32, saw the movie yesterday and laughed all the way through. Comedy is subjective of course, so though it may not be your cup of tea, it does not mean that if you didn't laugh, that no one else did either.

reply

You mean, you remember that's how you felt when you were in that situation? (compare to my post)

Nah, I'm just kidding. I guess we just have different tastes then.

reply

You're calling someone a nut case because they saw how weak this film was?

I'll just go ahead and say it... If you thought this film was anything more than a 6/10 comedy wise, you don't know s*** about comedy.

reply

And.. I'm a go ahead and say you are a ray-tard who laughs at farting in his own bathwater. You imbecile.

reply

Jason Segal was the funniest thing in the movie. His overreacting when somebody has a crisis was funny because although people (me) do that in real life I've never seen it in a film.
Apart from that it was pretty ordinary although I did like the fact that she didn't get punished or have some kind of crisis of conscience or something.

A lady walks into a cocktail bar and orders a Double Entendre. The barman gives her one

reply

Yes, of course i'm a "ray-tard" because I didn't find the comedic stylings of Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake to be funny.

Oh how I long for the day when my brain develops enough that I can truly appreciate the classic comedy that is "Bad Teacher."

One can hope.

....wow...

reply

I had more fun reading all these posts than by watching this film! Thank you all guys for all those "imbecile", "ray-tard", etc... LOL. Love you all!

reply

most of the jokes are based on sarcasm and dry wit...if you really need to ask what part of the movie was funny, maybe you need to watch something more literal or slapstick, like mr bean? unless, of course, it was the vulgarity, in which case, grow up or don't bother the real world from your ivory tower

if people dont like the movie it hardly means they don't know a thing about comedy...if anything it proves how narrow minded your view of comedy is...people laugh at stupid *beep* people laugh at intelligent banter, people laugh at animals getting hurt, people laugh at fat babies... its just silly to shut others down on something so universal as laughing...don't be an ass because you can't understand things...

my advice, regardless of if you asked for it, is to just chill and enjoy life dude...the movie was funny in its own way, made me laugh for most of it, but then i found 'Hoodwinked!' hilarious, lost my *beep* watching 'Walk Hard' and endlessly watch re-runs of arrested development, seinfeld, 30 rock and south park...i don't find either version of 'the office' funny and i can't stand late night monologues (except of course, craig ferguson :) but i don't troll around forums saying people must be imbeciles for liking it...i don't give a *beep* frankly... i guess the point is, open your mind, and if you don't want to, don't be a hater...

there is nothing wrong with expecting a certain level of quality or decency when watching a movie, just like when we walk into a restuarant we expect the food to be decent. I feel you are wrong to say that as a society we can not set a standard for what is humorous and what is not. if someone says it's humorous to see an elderly person being abused phyically we are just supposed to say that it is acceptable?- and we are supposed to teach our children this way?????
NO THANKS LIBERALS, I REJECT YOUR WORLD. I KNOW GARBAGE WHEN I SEE IT .

reply

"I feel you are wrong to say that as a society we can not set a standard for what is humorous and what is not."
No, we cannot set that standard. Comedy is subjective and while I enjoy the occasional Disney film, I thought that Shrek was much better because it was geared toward a more mature audience as well as being appealing to the children. I also enjoy the occasionaly dark comedy and that is why I enjoyed this movie. It made me laugh not only because of its ridiculous premise, but because it wasn't so ridiculous. And yes, in the confines of a movie, elder abuse is humorous. One example: Happy Gilmour. Ben Stiller was funny in that role and that portrayed physical and mental abuse of the elderly.
Also, while we're at it, you know your garbage when you see it. The wisdom in one man's trash being another man's treasure is true. You don't have to like this movie, but you should understand that subjective things cannot be objectified. That's why they're subjective.

reply

NO THANKS LIBERALS

Where did that come from? All credibility has officially gone out the window.

Well I'm 67,watched it on TNT today and though her character, the teacher, was hilarious. Not much to discuss really,
just fun, goofy outrageous comedy, enjoyed it. I wouldn't want any kids to see it though.

ps While I'm here which is not often, Best Picture for an Oscar was, The Imitation Game, in my opinion. I thought it was marvelous in every way, glad my son talked me into seeing it. American Sniper well done too, felt I was there, realistic.
One last comment, I've been watching Oscars on TV since Bob Hope was host in 50s and really wish they'd stop
messing with the memorial tribute. It was perfect since day one and not sure why they've been doing this last few
years. Don't fix something that's not broken.

Vblais1,

Your kids must be thirty - forty five years old!
Parenting is a tough, 24-7 job, I know; especially to those of us with such high standards, but you can't watch over them forever.
They have their own lives now, Vblais, their own children to raise.
It's time to let go.

why don't we leave the film critique to the film critics, who know hella more than any of us! If one judges a movie based specifically on if they laughed or not, is likely a pea brained nit wit anyway! I understand that this site is for opinions, but I at least expect people to give an unbiased opinion... I frankly don't care if u hated it because u didn't laugh,.. I wanna hear who is in it, and if their performances were believable, I wanna hear about how the story flows, if it makes sense, did it at least keep u entertained, etc... age has nothing to do with how funny a comedy is or should be. Yes, certain jokes, and situations are subjective. which is why people don't wanna hear about your hate of the movie in question...so next time, try to keep your opinions a bit more intellectual, and less verbose... thanks!

reply

What the hell is funny about a low life scumbag teacher.who is a despicable, mean spirited sub human who lies, cheats, steals to get some financial gratification.Oh, stealing the FCAT exams was *beep* hilarious.

reply

Its great fun to trash these Hollywood movies.some of my reasons are because we know that they know they are scamming, ripping off the general public with this piece of crap.there is no intellictual thought process going on in any Hollywood movies. Thats what makes 99% of them pure crap. The one percent wins the Golden globes, The oscars, the foreign film critics award, and any other awards they can make up for themselves.Thats what Hollywood does best. They applaud and give themselves awards for one percent of the total. Its been going on since the beginning of Hollywood. Hollywood is the lowest form of entertainment in the known world.

reply

Wow, I could not agree more. They are the ones laughing the most - all the way to the bank. It is a shame too because there are a lot of great scripts written by people who do not play into the crap of Hollywood, and therefore do not get the recognition that they deserve. They have to go through other film outlets. Struggle builds character usually, but still there are so many crappy movies getting undeserved credit just because of something as trivial as a famous actor/actress starring in it. For instance, take out the famous celebrities in this film, and replace them with less-known people who give the exact same performance of acting; I would like to see how many comments the movie would have on its IMDB message board.

You are pretty intelligent for a zombie. Or wait, a dead zombie. So that means you are a human, right? Like multiplying two (or an even number of) negatives equals a positive.

I'm 48 years old and i liked this movie, I will like it when I'm 98. You are taking yoursels too serious!

reply

it's Justin Timberlake, not Bieber.

reply

Yeah, Ms Squirrel is hilarious with her *beep* crazy antics, she was solid in this and in Dinner for Schmucks, I was thinking why has she not been on SNL ever because she's right up their alley.

Thomas Lennon as the testing agency guy gave me a few laughs, Cameron Diaz's early bad attitude and boredom made me giggle. Segel was solid as hell, and Phyllis had a few chances for laughs

I dont necessarily remember a ton of funny lines, but while watching the movie I was entertained and laughed, watched it with my girlfriend and we both expected it to suck but we're entertained by it.

One thing that I think cost the movie some success was its weak plot. Out of nowhere Diaz and Timberlake are dry humping. They didn't show us any setup for that, any little bit of Timberlake falling under her spell, and also the spark between her and Segel wasnt that apparent until all of a sudden you see her giving him looks when he keeps her on her toes.

I thought it was funny enough, but could have used some tweaks to better get the plot through with less screen time

reply

Oh i'll tell you a funny part. There is this funny bit, that just made me Laugh My Ass Off, it was that scene with the... WHOLE MOVIE ! the whole thing was hilarious, i have to admit the story line was predictable, but the acting was incredible the jokes were hilarious. E.G "Hold my ball sac". thats just a classic. Jason Segal's "charm" was funny, his sarcasm was impeccable. The Intensity of how much the "teacher" Dint give a *beep* Cracked me up. all the comments on the report such as "Are you *beep* kidding me", and "Jesus christ". and the unnecessary provocative "bath" during the car wash. and the irony of the 'hit & run' police officer.

reply

The "hold my ball sack" line was stupid and cheesy.

Are you foreign?

reply

[deleted]

It was no work of genius, but I expected it to be a lot worse. Compared to most American comedies of late, it wasn't bad - it wasn't boring, wasn't too over-the-top and was only mildly predictable. And I was happy that it didn't whack you over the head with any messages.

These bastards!

Just the fact that she was horrible teacher. There is a part in the beginning that showed her walking down the hall and then turning the other way in order to avoid the other teachers celebrating a birthday. I understand being in a work place and being forced to smile and pretend to be happy. And then the same thing happens when she sees a girl crying by her locker. Like Ugh, I don't want to deal with this and pretend to care.

Okay. Maybe I'm retarded or something, but I thought this movie was really *beep* funny. I laughed out loud way more times than usual. It reminded a lot of a show I love, Strangers with Candy, and I loved it for that.
A lot of it might have been forgettable, but I do vividly remember laughing out loud at the following parts:

-"I don't eat muff pie" (so rude and uncalled for... love it)
-seeing the bad teacher show up for her meeting with an Annie wig and glasses
-finding out later that the Annie wig has been missing
-any scene featuring Amy Squirrel taking her job way too seriously (reminds me of the realistically over the top teachers we've all had)
-seeing bad teacher's new living situation. "Wanna get wasted?" ".... uh yeeeah."
-all scenes featuring Phyllis from the office made me laugh, more because of her delivery and excellent chemistry with Cameron Diaz
-Bad teacher stealing a dolphin statue, then seeing that it was later given as a gift to the principal.
-Amy Squirrel's drug raid and comeuppance.
-seeing Scream being shown to the children while the teacher chugs a mini bottle of whiskey
-the dry humping scene. "Dry hump the *beep* out of me, Scott" And that pathetic noise he made when he came, and that gross stain on his jeans... Come on. That *beep* funny.
-smoking pot in the gym
-the fact that the associate from the standardized test company thought "Marjorie" was more attractive with that hideous wig.
-Elizabeth not knowing it was Christmas.
-Pretty much all of Elizabeth's sneaky plans put a smile on my face. And any scenes of drug use were just funny to me.
-"I want to sit on his face."
-"I caught him with an 8th grader. She was jerkin' him off!"
-Elizabeth stops and thinks for a second after describing a little girl who is shallow and who's priorities are all *beep* up.

This movie was entertaining to me. It wasn't a masterpiece in filmmaking, but it made me laugh and it was absurd and raunchy. And the acting from everyone involved was superb. It doesn't matter to me in movies like this if the plot is weak. I ...don't care about the plot when I just want to laugh and see the bizarre antics of a completely inappropriate junior high teacher.

You left out the best one.....when she's coming into the fiance's house and says:

"I'm home. Get yourself hard. I'm going to suck your dick like I'm mad at it.....Oh, your mom's here!"

But yeah, the movie was, the whole, pretty funny to me, too.
