I know the movie says he plans on re-building it.. but as an extreme fan of this movie, I'd like to know how it's going.

shareNot yet, but if interweb rumours are to be believed, The Beast is getting the best medical care available somewhere in Queensland as we speak.
The big dilemma was to rebuild it if it required re-shelling. From what I understand, Bana wasn't going to bother if it did, as much of what was left of the cars original metal was the body. Most of everything else had either been replaced long ago, or modified to within an inch of its life for racing.
Good news for Bana though was that, despite a new front corner, much of the original body was salvageable. And from the film at least, the chassis rails looked like they had escaped heavy damage and distortion too, so she can be resurrected for the purposes she was built for.

It's been rebuilt. He even got rid of the rear leaf springs this time around. Got it done in late 2011.
