Seriously. I think that more disaster movies should have endings like this. Those movie producers who make disaster movies should get it through their heads that not all disaster movies should end happily.
I know of a few disaster movies with endings like this.
Yeah I agree. Usually, those disaster movies would find an impossible way and make it work to save the earth. Unlike here, it's reality that earth can't be saved once the damages have started.

Exactly. I don't care much for the movie. But I love the ending. It's the 1st and only one I've seen where they didn't save the world.

Well, this was NOT the worst movie I have ever seen (unfortunately for me...), and I'm not sure it would even be in the worst 10.
In some ways it was unique because it literally 'spelled out' the ending "EXTINCTION" so it left no doubt about the ending.
Nearly all Hollywood movies have happy endings, but notice that this movie was NOT made in Hollywood! There are several Hollywood movies, (like DEEP IMPACT), that are not typical 'Hollywood Endings', but ...
