cars?

i enjoyed this movie, although i will admit to fast forwarding a bit with the subtitles on.

my question was about the cars---the DVD sleeve said "1950's portugal," but there were a great deal of modern cars and modern dress. was it an artistic choice, to illustrate something about the nature of the story being told, or was it a gaffe?

of course, the dvd sleeve also promised that isaac's "days and nights would become filled with romance as anjelica comes to life in his camera lens"…and that was *certainly* not the case! : )
