I'll have to watch this again since I was multitasking. In the meantime, who was the little boy who committed suicide and why did he do it?

He was a German POW friend of Gertie. Gertie came upon him in the forest after he was molested by a German POW officer. He was humiliated. Gertie's father beat the crop out of the officer after he found out.
