Wait, this is really Harrison Bergeron?

This was one of my favorite stories as a kid, I had no idea that it was being made into a film (again). I'm all for using mystery to sell a film, but damn this would have been nice to know earlier!

The truth ain't like a bunch of puppies running around you pick your favorite!

I think they just liked the title "2081" better than "Harrison Bergeron." Most people aren't familiar with the story and, honestly, I think 2081 probably would work better to sell the film than the original title.

I think Brude hit the nail on the head. Surley the studio suits thought it will be much easier to market this film if it's called something other than the original title. Vonnegut is one of my favorite authors and Welcome to the Monkey House is wonderful but I fear that Hollywood may have tarnished this great short story by trying to flesh it out to a feature length film. Guess I'll have to buy a ticket and see for myself.

On the other hand, I recently read that Guillermo del Toro is considering to remake Slaughter House Five within the next few years. Something to look forward to. I also wish someone (talented) would tackle Sirens of Titan.

I think that the director chose 2018 as the title due to people will easily confuse this with 2012 and give it a look where as the title "Harrison Bergeron" really doesn't grab people.
