How about the Spanish Tercios, first infantry and marines multi-weapon units in the modern era, who ruled over Europe (and all over the world) for more than 150 years?
They fought and beat English troops and pirates, French troops and pirates, Dutch troops and pirates, revolutionaries from the Netherlands and Germany, Swiss troops, Portuguese troops, Turkish-Otoman troops, Moorish pirates, Swedish troops, Austrian troops, Aztec troops, Mayan troops, many other native American warriors, Central-African warriors, Chinese pirates, Japanese troops, Filipino troops, Polinesian warriors...
Hard to find any other Army and Navy fighting so many different warriors around the globe in a short-term time in History.

OK here is my idea, convicted of treason and to some a martyr, John Brown lead brutal raids in Kansas fighting slavery until his defeat at Harper's Ferry Virginia. (Now West Virginia).

Mid Range: Maynard Pistol

Short Range: Rapier Sword

Special: Pikes

Benedict Arnold's Weapons (For this we will be using his British weapons)

Long Range: The Brown Bess with Bayonet

Mid Range Range: Flint Lock Pistol

Short Range: Saber

Special: Tomahawks

Advantages:

Long Range: John Brown faster reload
Mid range Range: John Brown Better accuracy and holds more rounds
Short Range: Benedict Arnold he knew how to sword fight and not just use them to hack people to death.
Special Even. Pikes have reach but Tomahawks are more versatile and Arnold was better skilled.

Arnold knew how to fight a war and his ability would have overcome Browns better technology. Also Arnold knew about Indian battle taticts. He cold have used them to counter Brown.

With regard to Season 3's "Vampires Vs. Zombies" match-up, I would love to see the Fourth Season pit STAR TREK against STAR WARS.
