So...

I guess nobody remembered about the current series for discussing events? Sigh.

I came on here last year hoping to find a bit of chat on it and it wasn't busy at all.

Looks like it's not the place to discuss the show. Maybe digitalspy or the likes is a better place...

It's Ash and Clare all the way for me! Most flawless contestants for me and just keep improving with no errors along the way each round.

And I do hope Kim goes home after tomorrow!

YES!

And Kim is OUTTA here!

She didn't inspire me at all. And my god, how are they going to choose between tomorrow's chefs? Though I didn't like that they teased a few shots of the dishes they made, I don't want to see that until they get served up!

I actually liked the look of the food at Andrew Fairlie. Though maybe that's just because I've never eaten much 'high end', Michelin star quality food, so I'd just love to see what it tastes like!

And they pulled the classic 'both go though' gag! I forgot about that since they usually do it before the semis...

Ash ROCKED the house tonight! He has to win, he HAS TO!

Oli was the right choice to go too, he would never have made it through to the final three if Clare and ...Steve? hadn't been in the same knockout stage.

Tomorrow at the No2 restaurant in the world looks awesome though...

The guy just seems to do no wrong. I mean has he made ONE significant error at ANY point in the competition so far? I can't recall one. He's rather unique in terms of technique and combinations and sheer precision.

Yes tomorrow is going to be fraught with tension! Though I like the fact it looks like Ash called the food back that was sent - the Spainards will appreciate that dedication and committment to absolute perfection I reckon. And I can't WAIT to see what he comes up with in his next dishes after the glimpses of some of the food being conjured up in that restaurant!

reply

The only thing I can remember Ash getting criticism for was an early dish which lacked a bit of flavour but they were so blown away with the presentation it was almost forgiven.

I think ever since then each dish has been spot on.

reply

I thought it was harsh on Oli
Clare was given help by being told her sauce was not right so had time to turn it into chicken broth. which to me didnt seem fair at all.
If they had said to oli his beans would be too hard, he may have mashed them and therefore gone through himself.
they seem to favour clare, without being told she would have served the clarified sauce and therefore gone.
Ash will winn it for sure i think

I don't know about that to be honest. They only saw that the consummie hadn't worked until AFTER it was wrong. They could easily have told her not to add the egg whites to boiling stock in order to save her dish, so she had to come up with something different on the fly.

Oli on the other hand, well there was no way they could taste his beans to tell him they weren't cooked properly until they had been served. Clare's issue they could see at a glance, couldn't do that for Oli. And his main was just a beef wellington. Which had errors. Nothing particularly special and not perfect either. At least Clare has been consistently better and more inventive than Oli throughout the whole competition. I think that had more of a decision and bearing on who went home last night.

So what did we all think of last night's episode at El Numero Two restuarant? Some mind blowingly insane looking food. Thought the lemon scented card that was served along with the lemon cloud(?) desert was a bit pretentious... though the squid dish served with cling film to allow paprika scents to puff through every time you touched it was an amazing invention! Everyone coped well which was good to see. Hope we get to see them make a new dish tommorrow and it isn't all based on making a set course for the 30 odd famous chefs.

reply

As it should be. The best man won! Practically no contest at all this year!
