Jane and Owen Should Have Ended Up Together

Okay, so now that all the episodes are on Netflix, I finally got caught up. I haven't watched the show since the end of Season 2. It was pretty obvious from the pilot that Jane/Grayson were going to be endgame, but I'm so sad that it ended up that way. I was okay with it... until they brought Owen on.

Season 6 was a hot mess, but before then Jane and Owen were perfect for each other. Owen LOVED DebJane for who she was. New Jane was a hybrid of Jane and Deb and Owen loved her. Grayson was in love with Deb. Not DebJane. Not Jane.

So blast all you want. But I think DebJane/Owen should have ended up together. They were freaking adorable and DebJane saw herself building a life with Owen. Despite what DebJane kept saying, she wasn't Deb and she wasn't Jane. She was someone new.

I absolutely agree! I always knew Deb!Jane and Grayson were endgame but that didn't stop me from loving Jane with Owen and hoping that somehow I was wrong or that the writers would change their minds and put Jane and Owen together as the endgame.

But then with the hot mess of seasons that are the last season and season five, I just couldn't even. There is no way Jane could have had a happy ending with Owen the way they dealt with him in Seasons 5 and 6. Not that Jane and Grayson getting together was that great either. They were awkward together. And killing off Grayson and putting him in Ian's body was just stupid, IMO.

This is my signature.

Seasons 5 and 6 were such a mess. I thought that the finale was just sad. DebJane's guardian angels kept pushing her to move on with her life as Jane, not as a Deb, and the ending just seemed sad. Esp, with the montage of Deb & Grayson. I think it was supposed to be a happy ending, but I saw it more as Jane unable to let go of Deb and Ian unable to let of Grayson. I saw it more as these two forever hanging onto what they had, rather than what is in front of them.

I would have preferred Jane just move on with her life.

Agreed. I just made a thread about how much more I like Owen.

I totally agree! The last two seasons were so lame and they broke all the rules Fred had told Jane about, which made the show less fun to watch. I thought Jane and Owen together were great because it showed Jane moving on and happy and she had great chemistry with Owen!

Owen was arrogant and nasty. Grayson was kind and handsome. I liked the end, but would have liked and 5 yr add on in the future with Jane/Deb and Ian/Grayson.

reply

i didn't like owen personally, but i agree after all the seasons, jane/deb should have moved on and they should have shown that. if the show was only one or two seasons it would have been a lot better for jane to be with grayson.

reply

i know the ending but i'm catching up on season six and i'm on episode 09 when grayson is in the hospital and i thought he and jane/deb had such a fricking cute chemistry, and stacy telling owen she loves him, the way he held her, that looked so sincere~! so i take what i said up there ^^ back. for now. lol.

I always saw it going one of two ways.

Either Deb and Grayson were the end game, star crossed lovers and soul mates looking for each other and unable to be separated as two sides of the same coin.

Or

Deb would have grown so much as Jane that she wasn't the same person anymore, and would no longer be quite the right fit for Grayson.

Honestly, I think option two would have been been better as I don't believe in soulmates.

In that case, Owen would have been great for Jane. Her ending up living a happy life with him would have been a great mark of Deb's growth.
