Comparing these 2 films is really difficult. Both are best in their own ways.

The effect of Wednesday was such that it created a stir in the people against terrorism and against corrupt government processes after the terrorist attacks on Mumbai.

On the other hand Slumdog was a big hit among Indians for various reasons like it was one of the 1st foreign movie based totally on india and indians, some like the spirit of the lead character (Jamaal), his never dying love and his courage, some like it because it gives true picture on 1 part of India (only 1 part, not whole India).

For me Wednesday would score a little over Slumdog, just because rarely does a movie leaves a long lasting positive effect on people :)

This was before the mumbai attacks though...movie came out months before that...

This movie was NOT before the Mumbai attacks. Remember there were bombings in Mumbai in November of 2008 it's true. I know that because my daughter was about to fly to Bangalore for work from San Francisco coming back just before Christmas. We weren't sure what airport she was flying in to and since her boyfriend was going along and he's over 6 feet tall and very white,we worried even more. My daughter is a respectable 5 foot nothing. Her father is a Bengali.Indeed-worry. And when they were there, tours were cancelled because of their obvious color difference making them a target. But on July 11,2006,terrorists bombed the most vital link in Mumbai-the train system. That,is the the real terror that this builds on. A city the size of Mumbai can't function without mass transit. The other movie dealing with this was Mumbai,Meri Jaan. Irrfan Khan of Slumdog Millionaire fame, does a wonderful job as usual,in this film.

Someone who has recently been in New Delhi tells me there are no pedestrian walkways along roads. Is it designed so to specifically stop poor classes from invading New Delhi? Is it the same in other newly built Indian cities?

What ??? Who the hell tells you such rubbish ? There are pedestrian Walkaways in many parts of Delhi. That is certainly a very ignorant statement , Delhi has a lot of inner roads which do not have footpaths as people prefer to walk on roads as they are generally clear of vehicles.

One of the places I will probably avoid going to is India. So dirty and polluted, a health hazard.

Tell that to your President who visited India for creating thousands of jobs for you idiots!
And if you really must know, India as a developing nation has plenty of problems to take care of and pollution is not even in top 10.
