Pretty good movie, but how about the message?

To me the message of this movie seemed pretty harsh. A silent agreement that it is right to kill off terrorists and a resignated view that the common justice system has become too weak and forgiving. After the Mumbai bombings and other terrorist attacks in the world, you could understand that many people just want to get rid of the terrorists. But isn't it going to far to approve the "common stupid man" to take justice in his own hands?

Anyway, the movie gave some food for thought, whatever way you see it...

I got the same feeling after watching it and immediately went to check whether there was a thread about the message of the movie. Interestingly, it was not my first encounter with Hindi movie, which delivers the message that you have to take justice into your own hands. In Rang De Basanti (Paint It Yellow) some "common stupid men" got fed up with their corrupt government and decided that killing would be the solution. I was very confused after watching it, since I quite liked the movie, but the point that director was trying to make was a bit radical and scary...

The message might be new for an Indian movie, but it has a long history in Hollywood movies. See many old westerns, Charles Bronson movies, the Dirty Harry franchise, etc. More recently, the movies Law Abiding Citizen and John Doe.
