I watched this film recently and really enjoyed it! I was captivated throughout even though the Inuktitut part had no subtitles. But I was wondering if it's just the DVD version I bought that had none or is it part of the story not to understand word for word what they are saying when not speaking french?

I saw it in a theatre and I'm pretty sure there was subtitles for the Inuktitut parts. Not 100% certain, though. I think there was subtitles when Tiivii talked to his wife on the phone from the sanatorium.

The Canadian DVD has subtitles for the parts spoken in Inuktikut.
